“Don't Stay Here!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 November 2008

I HAD to stay here to report on a murder of 2 people by an 8 year old boy, ONLY 2 HOTELS IN TOWN, BOTH OWNED BY SAME FAMILY!!!! Not a good property, I understand Days Inn Corporation does not have very many inspections anymore, and this one shows! I have been to better Days Inn locations! Very old, flat roof, dated design. Looks like it was built in the 50's,and probably was! Breakfast did not meet the usual Days Inn Standard, as many are required to have Folgers, Kellogg's & Minutemaid per the Days Inn Website and Wyndham Rewards. Stay in Holbrook, AZ, about 40 miles away, better choices, Super 8, Days Inn, Holiday Inn, Comfort Inn, etc... Much bigger town! As a reporter, I travel and I know most of the hotel requirments as far as breakfast, high speed, etc... Speaking of High Speed, this hotel DID NOT HAVE IT!

“Dirty Room”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 June 2008

The Days Inn we stayed in (St. John, Az) was awful. Within the first night we had cockroaches running around. The blankets were dirty. I was told there was a blow dryer in the room, which there wasn't . When I called the lobby, the lady stated that every room has a blow dryer in it. I assured her there wasn't. She ask me to come back to the lobby to get a blow dryer to use. Upon checking out I handed her the blow dryer to which she stated she did ask the office manager and he stated that the room we were in was the only room there wasn't a blow dryer... come on! I would never stay there again. Not happy at all. We travel a lot on business trips and our experiences with Days Inn in the past have been good. This one left a bad memory.

“Adequate Motel Requires Upkeep”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2008

Arrived and checked in without a problem. Went out for dinner and when returned parking was tight. Contractors using the motel set the alarms on their trucks and all night horns honking. Wall plugs are worn and phone chargers fall out. Had to unplug the refrigerator to use the microwave. Had an unscheduled layover for a second night and the room was a bit quieter. Motel manager mentioned compensation for first night but failed to follow through. Overpriced for the area and condition of the facility.

“A Basic Road Motel; Not That Good, But Adaquate”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 May 2007

This motel is not as bad as it looks from the street. It is over-rated in two prior reviews. However, the rooms are nice, neat and clean. You can stay there O.K., if necessary. There is only one other choice in town, Budget Hotel, nearby, which looks better from the road, but is very close to that mainstreet. This is Highway 180/60, a rather noisy street when lound vehilces pass, such as many trucks, motorcycles, revving cars and cars with high AMP speakers. Many of the rooms of this Days Inn are also too near this road, but you can get a quiet room in a building in back of the building that contains the motel office. It blocks the street noise. They kept trying to give me one of these noisy rooms, although there were very few other guests. The included breakfast was substandard. It also apparently ran out of items that we too would have liked. Not many guests there and they still put too little out. The room microwave is most important in Sundays. Bring food you like for Sunday and a microwave cooking pot, utensils, and plates. Everything in town is closed, except a food mart in a gas station. There you can get pizza and the usual kind of gas station survival stuff. Contrary to a prior review, we did not have to compete with hords of people trying to get in to that Days Inn. We might stay there again if we we had to stay overnight in St. Johns on the way somewhere else. St. Johns is a rather nice very small town, with little attraction for tourists.

  • Liked — Low price, nice, neat clean rooms, along our route when we needed to stop for the night.
  • Disliked — In general, it was a rather dismal experience.

“Best Hotel in the Area!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 April 2006

If for any reason you happen to be in this part of Arizona, this hotel would make a very acceptable place to stop. The rooms are large, standard Days Inn fare, and are very clean. There is a microwave and a refrigerator in each room. The free breakfast is acceptable and the room it is served in quite adequate. Overall, you get good value for your dollar here with a nice room and a comfortable bed.
Visit the museum while in St. Johns. Lots of exhibits about the history of the town and the area. There is also a nice outside part to the museum with a pioneer house and a jail!
Eat at the Rhino's Horn restaurant. Although the opening and closing hours are apparently only a suggestion, the philly cheesesteak sandwich was great!!
