“I can't complain”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 December 2011 via mobile

The wife and I spent two nights here. Its not the Ritz, and it doesn't pretend to be. It's a Super 8 and a nice one we thought. It has a jacuzzi an indoor pool and a gym. The carpets and rooms were clean. and the beds were fine. In fact it appeared to be fairly new. If you want the Ritz, pay more and stay in a fancy hotel. We thought it was well worth the money.

“NEVER NEVER NEVER!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 October 2011

Made reservations back in Jan. 2011 to stay here Sept. 22 - 25, 2011. Plans changed so cancelled reservation on Jan. 31, 2011 (I HAVE PROOF).

On Sept. 23, 2011 I got a charge for one night's stay @ Super 8 on my credit card as a "no show." I contacted the motel, they said they had no record of my cancellation and there was nothing they could do.

I contacted Super 8 corporate and they found my cancellation, but said they'd have to send me a check (still waiting after 2 weeks for that) for the charge rather than issuing a credit.

Now I have a SECOND charge for the same amount for Sept. 23, but posted to my credit card on Oct. 7. Contacted motel again. Of course the manager was "not in." The man I spoke to said they have no record of a second charge and there was nothing he could do.

So I called corporate again. They are "looking into it." They also said the only one who could charge me again was the motel itself as corporate has no access to my credit card info.

This place is ridiculous! And good luck in trying to ever talk to the manager. In my many many calls to the motel over the past month, "he'll be back in 30 minutes," "he'll be in at 9 tomorrow morning," "he'll be back later," "he's gone for the day."

No matter when I called he was NEVER available. The customer service at this place is TERRIBLE. Will NEVER EVER stay here....would rather sleep in my car than to give this business MY business.

“UNCOMFORTABLE”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 July 2011

Stayed at Super 8 for my summer vacation and at first was pleased with the cleanliness of the room. I was fine until I tried to go to sleep on one of the HARDEST mattress I have ever slept on. I was only able to get a couple of hours of sleep a night and after a long day of hiking my body wanted to relax and that bed was not helping.

“NEVER AGAIN ......”

We come to Pinetop/Lakeside 2 or 3 times a year and have always stayed at the Best Western. This time, due to the Wallow Fire all hotels were very busy. We chose this hotel due to modest rates and a good experience in other Super 8 hotels. However, this Super 8 SUCKS. Upon walking in the lobby door, the woman at the front desk was less than enthused to help us. My husband & I had our grandson with us and had asked for a King bed and a cot. We got the king bed but the loveseat that turned into a single bed was disgusting. A saggy, dirty mattress w/ NO SHEETS ON IT, NO BLANKET OR PILLOWS FOR IT. So we called the desk to ask for a blanket and 2 pillows. We were informed it would be 30 minutes. Approximately 20 min later I walked to the front desk to get the WiFi password and was also told to stop at the hotel laundry room to get my own blanket and pillows on my way back to my room. All the floors need to be vacuumed and quite honestly the rugs should be replaced ... or at the very least cleaned.
The room itself was in need of much repair. The loveseat/single bed was so worn it was threadbare in spots and very dirty. The King mattress was so saggy and springs were felt all night long. The towels were super small and so rough it was like drying with sandpaper. The hotel doors were all left propped open, all day and night, allowing anyone to walk into the hallways and not have to pass through the lobby. And the window lock was loose and the screws that held it were practially stripped ... needless to say security is not on the owners priority list.

We tried to go to a different hotel after the first night, but all were booked. We will NEVER stay at the Super 8 hotel again ... I recommend the Best Western Inn in Pinetop ... we are going back there next time we come for a visit or fishing trip.

“A very pleasant surprise!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 February 2011

I took 10 high school students to a Student Council convention and the Super 8 added to a very nice trip.

Rooms were clean and ready for us - plenty of towels, toilet paper, etc. Each room had a fridge, microwave, wireless internet (which for high school students is very important). Public computer in the lobby area. Everything worked - not one problem with appliances, toilets, showers. Beds were comfortable.

Check-in was quick and easy and all the room "keys" functioned every single time (THAT is unusual with these new electronic keys). Checkout was quick and easy, too, and the staff was most accommodating.

Some of my students used the spa and reported a good experience. Nobody used the pool so I can't comment on that.

Complimentary continental breakfast: coffee, tea, juices, muffins, bagels and cream cheese, yogurt, cereal. It was ready at the advertised time and everything was kept well stocked and the area was kept clean. TV in the breakfast room.

There are only two problem areas: 1) We were on the ground floor and the stomping around from the upper floor is pretty loud. But other high school groups were upstairs and who knows what they were doing. :) 2) Pinetop/Lakeside is a small community and if you want something to eat late at night - forget it. The first session for us ended at 10 pm and nothing was open ... no fast food place or even pizza delivery. Only one place was open but it wasn't within walking distance and our bus driver couldn't take us because he couldn't go over the legal hours for a bus driver. The kids ate junk food from the snack machines. But we learned ... and the next day we stocked up from the nearby Safeway!

I would definitely recommend the Super 8 in Pinetop/Lakeside to other travelers. It isn't the Ritz, but it's a great value (for student groups and others on a budget, this is important) and our experience there was very pleasant.
