Check-in was pleasant & quick, and we appreciated the concierge not wanting pitch a sales pitch. We noticed right away this resort having ‘We strive for 5 star’ and we ‘Go Green’ publications throughout. For starters, we were surprised to find this nice of a large resort on this side of Phoenix. We agree it being close to a lot of conveniences but did not see this much of an advantage between being located on the Northern side of Phoenix/Scottsdale. There is definitely a difference in the ‘curb appeal’ of surrounding neighborhoods! Our 1-bedroom unit turned out to be generously sized with many conveniences. Décor is definitely more dated than other 4 star resorts we stayed in. Some make-shift end tables, improvised cabinet shelves, not very functional dressers, and uncomforatble couch and chairs leave room for improvement. The curtains, especially around the patio door looked fine at first but were right out filthy on their back side. The bathroom set up was nearly an overkill in side and duplication of sink area, and the unit lacked kitchen storage as it appears a former pantry had been converted into the make shift laundry area (doors didn’t close). However, we appreciated having the laundry area!! The most unpleasant experience was that this resort has proven to be VERY noisy. We realized this was a much larger resort than some of the other 4 star resorts we previously stayed. Based on the many coming and goings, we assume this resort also caters extensively to cooperate day guests of surrounding companies. The noise created by housekeeping/maintenance staff with their partially squeaky mini-carts and ‘set on extra load’ walky talkies is no excuse however. It was virtually impossible to get in a quiet sunbath on the private deck or sleep in past 8 AM without any disturbance! Many times the noise lasted until late and started before 7 AM. As for the matter of ‘going green’. We have seen a number of positive efforts but are convenienced these may be just for marketing purposes. Again, there is room for improvements. We have seen water been wasted intensely more than once! Washing down the exterior of a building to wash away beer bottle caps and lint left behind from previous guest, could have easily been done with a broom. A broom would have done fine. Letting the water run into the grass or walkway for some time while one tries to find the right connector for the extension hose is being lazy and NOT energy efficient. We still would award this resort a 3 – 4 Star. Considering the amenities and location, we agree this resort offers a great stay for the executive cooperate traveler. We would NOT recommend this resort to friends who want to experience a relaxing resort experience.
Room Tip: Try to get a room away from parking area, you may be luckier getting less noise from the housekeepin...
