“Beautiful grounds”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

The grounds of this property are the most beautiful we have experienced in the Phoenix area. Unfortunately our room, a valencia casita, was not the most beautiful. I made the mistake of not reserving a designer casita, which apparently are updated. Our casita was old, the lay out was odd and the bathroom was just like a best western. I really enjoy having a beautiful room with a great large bathtub in the bathroom. We were offered to upgrade to a terrace room but it was a bit small, the japanese soaking tub in the room was like a small jacuzzi but the way it is you are not able to lay down in the water. You have to be sitting upright as though you are on a step in the very deep end of a pool. Our lunch that we had in T-Cooks was good, cocktail hour in the bar was fun and I will definitely be back so long as I book a designer casita. I was sad to leave the gorgeous grounds.

Thank you for your review. We are very pleased that you felt our property is the most beautiful in the Valley of the Sun! Please be assured that we are planning a complete renovation of the Valencia Casitas in summer 2012. This will include an update in the bathrooms, soft goods and overall create a more luxurious feeling. In the meantime, for your next visit, we recommend a Spa Terrace that features a large deep soaking bathtub, steam walk-in shower, fireplace and magnificent views of Camelback Mountain. We look forward to seeing you at Royal Palms again soon!

“Old School, Lovely Resort Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

Old Hollywood style, subdued, classy resort with excellent onsite spa. Not as glamorous as newer resorts, but somehow more authentic. Wonderful historic architecture, esthetically pleasing common areas. Great proximity to hiking Camelback Mountain, although once there, it is tempting not to leave. Resort fee seemed high at first, but made sense once they clarified that it includes most gratuities while on site. Restaurant was spendy, and menu offerings somewhat limited...quality of food was good, but not memorable.

“Lovely hotel and grounds”

This lovely historic hotel was a nice base for our stay in Phoenix. The grounds are magical at night . The highlight of our stay was the time spent in the gorgeous spa, the atmosphere of which is incredibly calming. The front desk gave us the wrong spa hours so be sure to check with the spa directly if you are interested.

“FANTASTIC!”

Loved everything about this hotel. Gorgeous grounds. Loved the pool area and the outdoor fire pits. Beautiful ambience around every corner. Came for a meeting, brought along the family. My kids loved the pool, hot tub and entire place (actually they just loved Arizona in general and now want to move!!). We will definitely be back to Royal Palms!
