This Residence Inn is perfectly acceptable, but not remarkable. We stayed there for $68/night as a result of a Priceline bid. I would not spend over $100/night for the accommodation. The location, by Metrocenter mall off of I-17, was central for us, only because we were attending baseball games from Surprise all the way to Mesa. However the hotel is in a working class neighborhood without a large variety of interesting places to visit if you are a tourist. I would much more recommend staying in the Scottsdale area for that. The suites were large and had all the essentials. The kitchen in particular was quite well equipped. The bed was too small, however, the mattress was too soft and the sheets did not fit right. The bathroom is set up well, with the sink and a large vanity area outside the smaller tub/toilet room. That area really needed a refresh. The pool and hot tub area was quite nice, in a central patio area by the gatehouse. There are many shaded tables. We only tried the complimentary morning breakfast once, but it was acceptable. From Monday to Thursday there is also a free light dinner which is welcome if you like it. Although there was typically a computer available in the business center it was stolen while we were there. Management was gracious to allow guests to print boarding passes from their own offices. Overall, the stay was fine but not memorable.

Spent several weeks here on business. Location is OK; easy to access the interstate, there are several corner stores in the area. Neighborhood might be a bit sketchy, but it's not terrible - I never felt unsafe. A few chain restaurants in the immediate area (Lone Star, Outback, Fuddruckers), and many others only a few minutes away. Per the title, their free internet access was particularly slow and unreliable for me. Rooms and layout was OK; would have preferred a TV that you would more easily adjust such that you could watch it from the bed. Staff seemed professional and efficient. Did not try the food or pool. Restaurant right next door called Bobby-Q has excellent food - especially ribs. Barstaff were quite friendly.

i booked my stay directly with Marriott and got a great auto club rate of $90. I wanted to catch a Coyotes Hockey game in Glendale, and on the map it said only 20 minutes from the arena. I took the main road to Glendale, and yes, it was only 20 minutes!

Now, I am not sure why the others posted a nasty review. I had a great stay.

Room: I stayed in the back, in room 814, a studio room in the lower of a 2 story complex. Very quiet!! Maybe those other people stayed in the front.. if so, ask for building 8 or 7.

My room was near the pool but I didn't use it. The room itself was plenty big for 2 people. The king bed was adequate but the pillows were very flat, so if you like firm pillows, either bring your own, or ask for more.

The kitchen had enough utensils and accessories for 4 people, and the R.I. will also go grocery shopping for you, if you dont have the time! Fortunately they also had a frozen food area in the lobby so I got some lean cuisines and ate that as a late night snack.

Nice feature: The room had a fireplace and a separate sitting area for TV, and a desk for work. You can get the apprpriate "firelog" at the front desk, but since it was 90 degees outside, we didn't bother. We did watch TV with the free microwave popcorn though!

Bathroom: The water pressure in my room was great! The soap was teeny tiny, so if you need a BAR of soap, bring your own.

Extra freebies: The hotel offers a light dinner on weekdays (Mon-Thurs). The menu is posted in the room and on Thursdays it seems they have a BBQ by the pool!! WOW!

My stay was on a weekend, and I got a complimentary hot breakfast. They had a medley of food!! Cold cereals, hot eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuit n gravy, fresh fruit, yogurt, breads, juice , milk, coffee, tea, cocoa, and do it yourself waffles, which were a snap to make!!

Bad part: Ok, I had to write this one... my neighbors upstairs were either elephants or the hotel had thin floors. When they got home at 10 pm, I could hear their footsteps. I called the front desk to remind my neighbors, but it was still noisy. Lucky I am a sound sleeper, but if you are not then ask for an upstairs unit!

Plenty of parking, and the neighborhood is not that bad. We're not talking South Central LA here!! Around the corner of the hotel is a great gas station (great gas price), a Kmart and a grocery store. Unless you are planning on paying $300-400 a night for a Gem of a location, this hotel is perfect for a 1 or 2 night stay. (I spent that kind of money in Paris and stayed in a dump neighborhood!)

  • Liked — They DO accept pets for a cost, and there's FREE INTENET ACCESS!!
  • Disliked — The upstairs neighbor can be heard
  • Any tips/secrets for future travellers? — ask for the buiding in the back for quiet rooms

Hard to believe this is in the Marriott family of hotels. The location is terrible, right on the freeway in a pretty sketch neighborhood. If you're a light sleeper, forget about it; the freeway noise is loud and constant. The maintenance guy who kindly let me into my room that I locked myself out of observed "it's so loud! It's hard to hear!" and laughed. Yeah, that's pretty funny.

What else? The rooms are all in various states of disrepair, despite having recent upgrades. Maintenance requests go unanswered. Nice pergo kitchens, I will say. No exercise facilities. Tiny pool monopolized by teenagers with mulletts. No restaurant facilities, and your nearby options are quite limited because why? Oh yeah, sketch neighborhood. There's a bbq place (very hit or miss) and a burger king. And a pollo loco. Good luck!

Sadly, the company I work for is relocating here, so many of my colleagues are also trapped in this hell-hole. Although we're bringing lots of steady business, we're routinely given bad rooms...assuming of course that there are actually good rooms.

Decent Residence Inn, typical of most others I have been to. The neighborhood is awful, location isn't very good as it is located on the 17 one-way frontage road. Hard to get in and out of.
