A friend of mine was having a show of his work at an art gallery in downtown Phoenix. I wanted to find a hotel that was centrally located and near the gallery. I chose the Lexington mainly for location and price. When I called the hotel to find out about getting there from the airport, I got very thorough information about the light rail. There is a light rail stop almost in front of the hotel, which made it very convenient. The hotel itself was average in terms of looks. My room was a good size, with a king size bed and a desk to work at. The wifi was pretty reliable, although I got better reception with my iPhone than my laptop. The bed was quite nice. There is a decent complimentary breakfast at the lobby restaurant. The walls of the restaurant are painted with blackboard paint, and there is chalk provided so guests can add notes or artwork to the wall. There is also a small gallery in one hall of the hotel featuring what I assumed to be local artists. The Lexington is located in what is called the "arts district" of Phoenix. It is a short walk to the museum and to Roosevelt Row, where there is a collection of art galleries, artist studios, tattoo shops, and hipster cafes. It is also a short walk to downtown, where there are some decent restaurants and a movie theater. This was a pleasant surprise as we didn't want to have to drive everywhere. Overall a pleasant surprise in terms of location and room quality.

Although they did change our room after our request, some of the room are just completely old and run down and smoky. Some of the rooms do offer great views of downtown. It's location is the best thing going for it. I wouldn't book just based on pictures online. If you want to stay here, go there, see the rooms, and pick out the room you want. They have a loyalty program you can join so you get a discount on the room. They have a small pool and outdoor hot tub.

They have recently tried to re-invent themselves some. I only have seen new signs for cycle - the bar at the hotel. I have also seen advertisements for concerts or brunch by the pool.

I stayed here as part of an Orbitz travel package. For the price, of around 30 something a night, it was better than expected. Location isn't too bad. It's across from the light rail but it wasn't too loud. Area not too bad, but you need to use common sense about walking around the area at night. The hotel is older but in decent shape for its age. Only complaint about the room is that the window only has a sheer curtain so you cannot block out the light at all; only other problem was thin walls. It sounded like some guy was urinating in my bathroom, the sound traveled so well--kinda strange. The room was pretty big with a king size bed, large desk, sofa, coffee table, and easy chair--practically a suite. Would stay there again.

I wanted to stay in Phx because I live about 2 miles north and did not want to drive home after a Diamondbacks game. All downtown hotels were way expensive, I found the Lexington and it was near the light rail to take downtown, and was considerably cheaper. Reviews on one travel site were not bad, and having lived in Phoenix a good part of my life, I knew the area and decided to stay here. Well, the staff was nice, the room was large...that's where it ends. The room was large, but I would not have sat in the overstuffed armchair in that room for anything. The carpet was badly stained, beds felt like you were sleeping on box springs and practically on the floor!!! Rooms very stark, bathroom was ok if you didn't look at the a/c vent. I really didn't want to stay there but didn't want to move at 10:00 pm either. I already paid, and oh yeah, they "authorize" your credit card for an extra $50 that they refund to your account when you leave.....there isn't $50 worth of anything I would want in that hotel. When I checked out and told them what I thought, they said it would start being refurbished at the end of the year. Until that happens, never again....cheaper for a reason.
