“Awful Stay!! Do not stay here!!”

First of all, the decor is fit for Count Dracula. Spooky, odd, and the photos are out of place. The front desk staff was not helpful or friendly. The restuarant was closed, and there is no continental breakfast or coke machine.

There was not enough parking for the guests and I never knew who was lurking in the shadows. There is a porn shop right next door too. There were no amenities and no lock on the bathroom door. No phonebooks or directories either.

The beds did not seem clean to me and the lighting was awful.

“Absolutely Disgusting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 April 2007

This was THE WORST hotel EVER! GROSS! DIRTY! YUCK!!! I did book this at a cheap rate, but Expedia had it at about $150. Outside is gross. Right next to a porno shop though--very conveinent.

THe girl at check in was a snot. I am a single woman business traveler. I travel ALOT. There is a smarmy guy at the front desk waiting to check in after me. So, she asks my first and last name and has me spell my last name. Then she gives my room # in front of the guy. So, now he has my name, spelling, and room #. There was a DATELINE episode on this! After he checked in, I asked the girl to please give me a new room # as the icky guy knew all my info. SHEW DID NOT UNDERSTAND WHAT SHE DID WRONG She got RUDE! She said that is the way they are supposed o do it, and how could I know my room # unless she told it to me? HELLO! WRITE IT DOWN LIKE EVERY OTHER HOTEL ON THE PLANET!

THw lobby was dark, dirty, and just GROSS. Hallways sick. Smells bad. TV is fuzzy on 9 of 10 channels. Towels are like thin sandpaper. No sheer curtains--just black out curtains or nothinfg. I was afraid to walk barefoot on the carpet. soap and shampoo CHEAP. Linens on cheap bed worn out and cheap. I think like a 4 thread count!

Heater was sooooo LOUD!!!!!!!!!!!! Like a train!

Lighting is awful in rooms and bathroom.

I got back to the hotel at 10 pm and no parking left. I had to ask the snotty front desk girl where to park--whick was the Radisson 2 blocks away. THey could have at least let me know that when I checked in. I was walking around this creepy neighborhood in the dark late at night--but the porn shop patrons were there to protect me. No stairs or elevator in parking garage, so I had to walk the whole stupid garage.

In the morning I spoke to the manager about the check in girl and you could just tell she hates her job. And she could care less.

I would not even stay here for free. It is like a 1* hotel!!!

DON'T DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

“Not quite like the pictures”

Check in for me was a breeze, but an unhappy group before me had had its messages lost and it took them quite a while to get settled. Lobby is dark, dingy, and full of cheap art. Could be seen as festive if not for such gloominess otherwise (black rug--what were they thinking?). Total of 20 watts (OK, maybe 60) in room lamps which made reading impossible. Beds are old and "queen" was a full bed. No "guest services" guide in room--maybe because there were no guest services to be had? Pool not cleaned/spa with twigs and leaves. I liked the location, but think that unless I were paying less than $70/night, I probably could get something nicer for just a few pennies more.

“Ill Advised Choice”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 March 2007

If odd is your thing, and you have no qualms about comfort, then maybe this is the place to stay. Being that I can get poor pillows, uncomfortable beds, and a very noisy air conditioner for a fraction of the price I will not be staying at the Artisan again, even if I were going to ignore the bizarre decor and creepy ambiance.

My wife and I stayed for several nights, luckily a busy schedule kept us away for most of the time. booking the room as part of a package deal. Having no real expectations, good or bad, I went in with an open mind. Waiting in the lobby as we checked in reminded me of being in a bastardized version of Interview with a Vampire; darkly gothic and vaguely erotic, but neither in the hip nor sexy sort of way. Maybe Disney's haunted masion, with a little sprinkling of soft porn, is a more fitting description.

On our floor, the black carpet, black trim, against a cream and fish-net wall was amply decorated with lusty style of "art". With none of the grace of a muesum, the paintings on the wall left an impression of a cheap immitation... probably because it was. At best I can only say the motif of the room was no better.

The comfort of the room was even less impressive than it's visual aspects. The pillows lacked even enough substance to be called lumpy. The bed was more comfortable than the floor, but only barely. The air conditioner, which I admit kept the room nice and cool, was so loud that it made getting up in the morning easy (you know, the "I'm so tried from being woken up all through the night I can't even sleep in" feeling).

I must confess, however. There was always adequate parking in the front. Even on the last night when a police car was blocking several spots, we were always able to park. Was it because of the other guests got scared and left, I can't not say.

All and all, we didn't walk away and leave... but only because the room was prepaid and we lacked the energy in dealing with the hassel. Would I recommend this hotel? Only if I don't like you.
