“I thought I would be more Impressed”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2012

I was a little surprised at the condition of the hotel and my guest room. There are old TV's in the rooms, the paint is peeling on the wall, carpets are stained and there is a lot of dust. I was expecting better for Crowne Plaza. There is a little "cafe" and when I was there in the morning, there was a note that the attendant was gone and would return, stood there for about 5 minutes and then left for my meeting. The restaurant was "OK" and I found it weird that they were out to steaks...I thought that was a "staple" in any hotel restaurant. However, the staff that I encountered throughout the hotel seemed pleasant enough.

MLLINNJ,

Thank you for the positive comments about our staff. The hotel is currently in the process of changing all of its TVs to Flat Screens as well as several other renovation projects. We hope that next time you are in Phoenix you will stay and see the changes we have made.

We use a local butcher to provide fresh meats for our restaurant. Because of this we don’t have a back stock of frozen items and we do unfortunately run out of products from time to time.

Best,

Paul

“Not for me...”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

I booked this one in the midnight through Hotwire and arrived 20 minutes after the initial booking. Outdated, dark lobby at that hour but as it is in close proximity to the airport and had comfy beds it was fine for sleeping for a couple of hours before I take my early morning flight. However, the smart... OK, wise-guy in the reception told in a very annoying way that the company that runs the car park (even though it is integrated to the hotel property) applies charges for the car park. I reserved the hotel through Hotwire and did not read the fine print in the tinny screen of the Iphone. Even though I am very well aware that some airport or midtown hotels charge extra for the car park, I was a bit unhappy to face that hidden cost in the middle of the night( a 145 USD hotel asking for 5 USD additional for car park...). But the receptionist who travelled half of the world last year and waiting for his next vacation this year to travel the rest, gave me my lesson in the middle of the night with a grin on his face, and told me that he has not been in a hotel without a parking charge lately. After taking my long deserved 5 USD lesson ı was waiting for his next wise move. At this moment, he asked my plans with my car...I did not dare to ask for other options (!) and accepted to pay the 5 USD additional fee to crawl into my bed in my room that faces to the tires and pumpers of the cars (yes, it was facing to the carpark’s floor, no, the company that runs the car park did not ask for an additional fee for the view.)

As the behavior of the staff against the customers shows the general approach of the hotel management to its customers, I'd not stay at this location or recommend this location to my friends and colleagues.

nbalsari,

I can imagine how frustrating it was to arrive at the hotel after a day of traveling and be greeted by poor customer service. I would like to apologize and assure you the service you received is not what we the management of the hotel expects of its employees.

We have used your observations as a training tool to ensure in the future we give our guests the level of service they expect from The Crowne Plaza Phoenix Airport. Clearly our desk agent failed to recognize the misunderstanding over parking charges as an opportunity to go above and beyond and clearly did not show empathy or understanding to the confusion.

We appreciate you feedback and again apologize for not starting your stay off with a positive customer experience.

Best,

Paul

“Pleasant stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2012

If you need to be close to the Phoenix airport for an early departure, this is a great location. The facility/room was clean, comfortable, and quiet considering its proximity to the airport. Booked through Hotwire, very good value.

“Phoenix Comfort”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

Had a late flight getting into Phoenix so I had made a reservation at the Crowne Plaza. In after midnight and called the hotel for the shuttle as previously instructed. Grabbed my bag and walked out the door where I had been told to go and waited less than 3 minutes when the shuttle pulled up with a friendly, helpful driver who eagerly assissted with the luggage. Got to the hotel and was greeted by a friendly and bright staff memeber at the desk. Gave me all the info I needed in a short period of time while completing the check-in. Next morning check-out was fast and friendly right up to the staff member in front of the hotel who helped load the lugage in the car without even a second thought. Would go back in a minute and will use the hotle again. Friendly people, clean room and easy check-in and check-out.

Room Tip: Ask for an upgrade. Got one without asking so they are definitely open to the idea

“Great location, excellent staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

I recently stayed at the Crowne Plaza near the Phoenix Airport 12/11. The staff was excellent, they welcomed me, gave me a snack and had my key packet ready, I walked up, signed my name and was off to my room. Very convenient shuttle service to the airport on a very regular schedule. Location is perfect, stores and restaurants within a short walking distance, light rail access literally at the front door will take you to downtown Tempe (ASU) or downtown Phoenix for a little night life or dining in either direction. Breakfast buffet here is as good as any you will have at an airport hotel, fresh fruit, hot food and an omelet station.

I will be back on my next trip to Phoenix.
