“Value for money for Business travellers”

It was business trip to Phoenix. My company booked this hotel because it was close to my office in 23rd N Ave. I stayed here for almost 40 days.
My first impression of the hotel was good, it was neat and clean.
Reception staff was helpful and friendly liked my room, kitchen and bath room.

Amenities: AC was working fine all the time. Bathrooms were properly cleaned time to time and toiletries were replenished.
TV with cable was good.
No swimming pool or any other recreational facilities. No option for breakfast.

Service: Service was good; staffs were able to assist me all the time when needed.

“So bad it is almost funny...if I hadn't had to stay there”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 December 2009

I've liked Extended Stay hotels in other states because I like to cook my own food when I travel on business. Not this one though! I booked this through the hotel website and requested a "very quiet top floor non-smoking room". When I arrived I was told that the hotels do not receive any "special" requests made on the website, and that the staff had been given the holiday (Thanksgiving) off and only one room in the entire hotel was cleaned to be available--a first floor room near the lobby. It was actually quiet enough, except when the desk clerk was having spirited conversations with friends in the lobby.
The real problems were:
A continually running toilet. It could sometimes be coerced into stopping, but would run so hard it also flushed itself!
Food (pasta sauce?) on the kitchen floor.
A sticky toilet seat (eewww...)
The iron was encrusted in black sticky stuff, which I ruined pants with (my fault--I should have checked it before using).
The trash disposal room across the hall was not attended to and smelled like, well, garbage.
PUKE IN THE BED (no I'm not kidding--see photos)
The last, of course, was the intolerable problem. I took the stained pillow and case to the desk to demonstrate the problem and was rather grudgingly supplied with clean linen. I asked for a clean mattress pad and pillow, as these were also soiled. I was told they were not available and I could check out if I was not happy with the room.
As I had already moved in with all my stuff and was cooking dinner (on Thanksgiving Day) I went ahead and stripped the bed, gave the soiled items to the desk clerk, and used my own sleeping bag and pillow I had in the car (I had planned to camp the next week at a state park, not in the hotel!) Because I was there on business and had very early and late hours over the holiday weekend (and I had cleaned up the worst of the room) I put up with this for the 3 nights I had booked. There was no apology, no comment from the manager (perhaps also on vacation?), no service for the room, no discount for cleaning the room myself, and no response to the e-mail I sent to the Extended Stay Corporation after my stay.
Obviously I won't choose Extended Stay again!

“No Thanks I'll Pass On this One”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 April 2008

I booked this room for my family who were in town to visit, the room was ok, could of been cleaned a whole lot better, the bed was not comfortable and an upgrade of $20.00 a day meant you get a second bed in the room. We were on the second floor and my niece was walking around the room, apparently this kind of thing cannot be tolerated because we got a call twice from the front desk that a guest was complaining of all the noise (seriously), we had two rooms and moved our "party" to it where we did not receive any complaints. If you want a room with a bed and nothing else than this is the place for you.

“Zero Amenities”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 March 2008

Booked this hotel for 4 people through Priceline. The price was great, but we found out why when we got there.

When we got to the hotel, we were given a room with 1 queen bed. Clearly not enough for 4 adults. We were able to switch to a king suite with a pull-out couch, but were charged an additional $20 a night.

We were told there were no sheets or pillows left in the hotel, so the two people who had to stay on the pullout couch slept on blankets with sweatshirts as pillows. How does a hotel not have enough sheets???

The third morning, the staff was able to find one extra pillow for us. The morning staff was very friendly and accomodating, but the night-time staff were not helpful at all.

Our TV remotes had no batteries in them and the wireless internet was pretty slow. There is also no shampoo, conditioner or a hair dryer in the room. The air conditioning was a joke, we couldn't turn it on at night when it was hot, and instead it came on during the day when we were gone. The fan in the bathroom was broken and hanging off the wall.

There is no pool, no continental breakfast, no towel or laundry service unless you want to pay extra. The hotel itself is pretty far from downtown Phoenix, Scottsdale and Tempe. However, it is located right off of I-17.

This hotel is only good if you are looking for a cheap place with a bed and a shower.

“** If you want rest and comfort, DO NOT STAY HERE!! **”

My first couple of experiences at this hotel were very good. The staff and management were friendly and made you feel welcome to be a guest at their hotel. This changed after a new manager came along that insisted the employees at this hotel do not interact with their guest.

This hotel went from a warm and welcoming atmosphere (what hotels are supposed to be) to a place that was cold and unfriendly. The new manager fired any employee that was friendly to there guest. Security is a joke.

If you are looking for a bed for the night, fine. But if you’re looking for a hotel with a warm, friendly atmosphere, do not stay here.
