“An excellent choice for (just north of) downtown”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 October 2011

This property is spotless. My room was clean, spacious, and orderly; the pool area was inviting; the lobby and breakfast area, while small, were clean. Breakfast includes a generous spread (eggs both scrambled and boiled, sausage, waffles, assorted breads, pastries (all individually wrapped), juices, cereals, coffee/tea. Every staff member offers a friendly "hello" when you walk in or out.

It is located next to the Arizona Art Museum, which is next to the McDowell/Central light rail station. You're one stop beyond the edge of ASU downtown and two stops beyond VanBuren and the edge of business/commercial downtown. If you choose to walk, you're about 10 minutes north (along 3rd Ave) from the edge of ASU downtown along a (seemingly safe) mix of apartments, condos, and a couple schools. There's a hotel van parked out front offering free shuttles to the airport and local destinations. A large CVS is just west of the hotel and a large Safeway/McDonalds/Subway/Pizza is a block west.

For me and my family, it's a great value option for downtown. The light rail provides easy access to the airport, ASU, and points beyond.

“Worst Experience Ever!!!!!!! No Customer Service. A DUMP!”

Checked in during cross-country road trip at 3am. Got to room to discover there were not enough towels. Was told I had to wait until 10am to get more towels. A/C was broken and room temperature rose to 90 degrees. Woke up in hot sweat at 8am and informed the "General Manager" who refused to offer a refund since we had "enjoyed the hotel's amenities"! Left by 9am.

Room Tip: Do not stay here.

“Great location, and that's it.”

I stayed here for two nights on business. The Internet connection set off every security alarm my computer has, the checkin fellow treated me like I was a thief off the street because the address on my drivers license didn't match the one in his computer, and also helped himself to the breakfast in the morning, eating all the scrambled eggs without replacing them. The room itself was fine, but the door wouldn't close without an active action on my part. Most hotels have self closing doors these days, and this wouldn't even be worth mentioning if I wasn't already down on this place. The coup de grace was waking up at 4:30am to take a shower before my flight out, only to find both the toilet and tub backed up (standing, dirty, water had come up through the tub drain). The only nice thing I can say is that it is very close to downtown. In short, though, stay away.

“GOOD CALL FROM MY FRIEND”

My friend foudn this place by accident a year ago and he always stays there when he goes to Phoenix. He likes to stay on a Friday b/c it is so close to First Friday, a great monthly arts and culture festival in Phoenix. There shuttle takes him there and picks him up. Add to that great rates and very accomodating staff who remember your name when you come back and this place is a winner.

“A+ Staff. Quick, friendly, caring, & treated me like family- 3 month stay.”

I lived in this hotel for 3 months, while my husband was in the hospital. Most times I was lonely and afraid (sr. citizen). The Staff became my second family and I will forever be grateful for all of thier kindness and understanding. They took care of me from check-in to check-out and made me feel safe, and protected. The garden and pool area is absolutely beutiful. I have stayed in hotels all over the US, and this staff is the best of all. Thank you, forever, P.
