“Horrible Value!”

We were put in this hotel when the conference hotel filled up and couldn't accommodate us. We stayed on one additional night and were shocked to learn that the charge for that night was $486! What did we get for that charge? Not much! Parking was an additional $29/day. Wi-fi was an additional $10/day. Local calls were $1 each. Rooms were comparable to our later stay at Ayres Hotel (at less than 1/3 the price!) in terms of room size and furniture. There was no turn-down service; only one robe in the room; towels were well worn and there was only one towel per person. I had to use the same towel to dry my long hair and my body. The toiletries were "Ritz Carlton" and not special. The shower was very weak and we had to call for service since the tub faucet shot water sideways, causing a wet floor. The carpet was very dirty. The dining room prices were outrageous! Finally, the hotel puts blankets on top of the mattress (under the bottom sheet) which get bunched up during sleep resulting in a lumpy bed. Both my husband and I woke up with sinus reactions leading me to believe that dust mites are a big problem. Frankly, I wouldn't pay $150 a night to stay in this hotel. There are simply too many other, good options in the immediate area.

Room Tip: Go across the street to the Macy's shopping mall for meals. Many good options.

“Excellent service, luxury missing”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

I was expecting more luxury, rooms are really average, and expensive. Even a white fridge next to the desk!
But service was excellent, and the 11th floor with concierge and all day long drinks and food is definitely a plus. Ideally located next to a mall.

Room Tip: I recommend 11th floor rooms with extra services, but really average rooms!

“Average Hotel”

The Ritz Carlton name usually conjures up thoughts of luxury. These thoughts do not apply to this hotel. It is really not more than a room at the Hilton or Marriott. But, the staff is very friendly and helpful. The high point of the room was the towels which are very soft and plush. The bed had a pretty worn out mattress and slanted on one side towards the floor. The bathrooms are very small.
This hotel does not have a spa. I was able to arrange massages through the hotel. This hotel uses independent contractors. The hotel is across the street from a very nice shopping mall. Mostly high end retailers and a couple of very good restaurants. It takes about 5 mintues to get to the mall via an underground walkway.

“Attended a conference”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 January 2012

I attended a conference at the Ritz-Carlton in Phoenix and found it to be very clean, the staff very attentive, and the food and other service prices high. But of course.... it is a Ritz-Carlton. In an age when most hotels provide internet service gratis, the cost at the Ritz was $9.95 per day on top of their high room rate. Be careful - if you log on to the site to check the price like I did - it may register as being used and you are charged for the day. The Front Desk made the adjustment and took it off my the bill. The Ritz does have great service. Movies ranged from $16.99 down to $4.99 for TV show reruns. Only limited TV stations are provided (although there must be 5 or more sports channels). Only enough supplies in room to make two cups of coffee in the morning - a room-service delivered 6-cup pot ended up costing $35 after the delivery charge, taxes, and 22% gratuity added to the bill. Breakfast in the restaurant was wonderful - but ran about $20 dollars per person. Have to say that I've never been in a restaurant for breakfast and had my coffee cup refilled as efficiently as at the Ritz. I would not choose the location for personal travel - but it is a nice location for business. If you stay at the Ritz-Carlton in Phoenix be sure to check out the high end shops and restaurants in the shopping center across the street - accessible by a walkway under the street.

“Perfect attention to detail”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

I stayed here a couple of other times over the last 4 years, and the place is as perfect as ever. I recognized many of the staff and vice versa. Each staff member always asks how everything is and if there is anything they can do better. If there is an issue, their internal radios (that each staff member wears) alert the appropriate people immediately. When a number of water pitchers spilled and broke, there were 4-5 people cleaning it almost instantaneously.

The beds are perfect, and the rooms are comfortable.

Being across the street from Biltmore Fashion Park, the location is excellent, as there are lots of restaurants and department stores you can walk to under the tunnel.

It's a favorite place for the NBA and other sports teams to stay, but they tend to be very discrete and you don't even realize they are there.
