“Excelent Getaway!”

Acutally, they didn't have the date that goes back 2 years, but I wanted to write a review. My fiance' and I have been to Grey Hackle Lodge several times, since we started dating. We loved it so much, we kept going back. It's beautiful, and pretty much peaceful. Sometimes, there will be a family with some obnoxious children, but hey...they gotta go to sleep sometime. The rooms are very clean and extremely cozy. The cabin we stayed at was the most secluded (cabin #1), and had it's own firepit out front. However, since then, it was closed, and then sold. It recently re-opened with new owners, and we wanted to go there for our honeymoon, but for some reason, October isn't seasonal to them. We used to go every Veteran's Day (Nov. 11th). Anyway, we will try to get there again, soon to see if it's still the same. I hope they didn't change too much.

“We had a great time!”

My husband, our 2 kids and I made the trip from Phoenix to Payson for a long weekend. The drive through Payson and Christopher Creek was beautiful. We arrived after dark so we didn't get to see much of the surrounding area, but the cabin was clean and ready to go. The next morning, we were able to see better and were thrilled at our location. Many of the cabins open to a common area in the middle, but our cabin was in the back of the property. We were afforded much more privacy and were loved that. We had our own private fire pit and BBQ grill. We made friends with the neighbors that lived behind and across the street. Our dogs played with the neigobor dogs day and night. The cabin had everything we needed and there was a little country store around the corner which we stopped by severl times. We very much enjoyed our trip and will definitely be back!

“Just What The Doctor Ordered”

I chose the Grey Hackle for an overnighter, as I was driving from Albuquerque to Phoenix. My cabin, #7, was just perfect for my stay. It was small but not cramped, it's perfect for a couple.

Christopher Creek is a lovely, relaxing spot. The top of the Mogollon Rim is only minutes away, what an amazing sunset. Wow.

“Problems with credit card charges.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 October 2006

I booked the stay for one night. Unfortunately I had to cancel. Grey Hackle's cancellation policy is you MUST cancel 7 day prior. Since it was only 24 hours I would be charge for my $90 one day room rate. Instead I was charged $371.88. When I called 2 weeks later regarding the over charge, the explanation was they did not know how to reverse an over charge. So instead they charged me again. Even after this problem, their customer service was to insist they still charge the cancellation fee. This incident lead me to believe my credit card had receive fraud charges that I am still working on correcting and a month later I am still waiting for my credit from Grey Hackle. I now am going to have to send them a demand letter and possible file a small claims suit. BEWARE of giving these people your credit card number.

“Clean & Quiet Getaway”

I made reservations at the Grey Hackle Lodge based on reviews at TripAdvisor. I was pleasantly surprised! Good location. A short and easy
drive from Sedona. The owners, Nanci and Eric, were extremely helpful and friendly. The rooms were cleaner than expected. The owners obviously
take great pride in their business and are very concerned with making a good impression to maintain a repeat business. I stayed in cabin #9 with
my dog and really enjoyed the peacefulness and solitude. I, personally, would upgrade to the 1 or 2 bedroom cabins for my next stay for the minimal price difference. If you are looking for a kicked back place with good fishing, peace of mind and nice hikes, I would highly recommend the Grey Hackle. Nanci is a great host and a 'fountain of knowledge' regarding the area attractions and activities. You should feel free to ask her anything.

I am already pondering a return visit.
