I came here as an alternative to Hotel Elisa, which was full.
Stayed for two nights.Basically no surprise with the state of the bedrooms. Some are smelly (check the bedroom before handing out any money). The one where I stayed (nr. 24) had the door key lost, which meant while I was in the premises (toilet, restaurant), I would leave the door unlocked, and when I went out, I had to ask the ladies to open my bedroom with the master key. Nothing happened to my belongings, and as a general rule, I found Apia quite safe.
I didn't have any visitors at night, as opposed to all the cockroaches I found at Elisa; but I can't guarantee future guests will be as lucky.
Depending on which bedroom you stay (ask to stay as far from the street as possible), you'll need earplugs to be able to sleep.
The ladies at the reception were always nice and they offered me a discount because of the door thing.
