Macondo is the place to stay if you are looking for the best in every sense.
The crew was always willing to help me in anything I needed. They have a lot of tourism information and they put me in contact with the best agencies. They were always worried about my well-being, if it was cold they offered me tea, for example.

The place has a great location since it is 2 blocks away from the center. Even though it is near the center it is a quite place, perfect for rest and relax. It has a great view of the channel.

The rooms are equipped with everything I needed, or maybe more: TV, bathroom, very comfortable bed, lots of space in the bedroom and in the bathroom.

I have to talk separately about the breakfast, because it is a whole subject: 2 types of cereals, 2 types of bread, cheese, ham, yogurt, milk, hot water, tea, juice, different types of cakes everyday, fruits.

I don't know about other hotels/hostals rates but I found that what I payed was totally worth it.

Macondo made my stay in Ushuaia unforgettable

We stayed in Ushuaia in February and found it difficult to find an affordable place to stay, as Ushuaia is not cheap! Macondo house wasn’t the cheapest place to stay, but it did offer a decent sized room with WIFI, a good breakfast and a common room with a great fireplace and a lovely view on the city of Ushuaia and the Beagle canal. Macondo house is situated a couple of blocks from the main street, so everything is within walking distance. The friendly staff made sure that we enjoyed our stay. Definitely recommended!

We spent three nights. Our room at the first floor had a very nice view on the Beagle Canal, it was big and comfortable. Staff was friendly and helpful, breakfast abundant and good.
They only should take care of some details, as the hotel seems getting a little old and needs something to get changed, like the rooms doors and windows which do not close well and the noises coming from the hall of the hotel or outside can be heard very clearly. For this reason it could be cheaper.
Nevertheless, it is a very nice place to stay, the position is perfect, just out of the busy area of the town. We liked very much the atmosphere.

This a is a really wonderful place, small, friendly, good location (near and above La An onima supermarket at end of San Martin main street). The new owners, the Fermandez family are really nice and great to talk with and this made ALL the difference to me. The place is small so you have to ring the bell at all times but someone is always there. Just dont know if open at night as well (I forgot to ask). I could easily walk from there to my cruise ship with luggage on wheels. It is important where your room is. The 2 rooms at the street can be noisy, so ask in advance for a quiet room if important to you. Good breakfast in a room with great view. As this is just a house, there is no elevator, and stairs are steep but owners are very helpful. It is just not for disabled people and the entrance is a few steps up from the road.
They do not have internet yet, but there are internet cafes.
Wonderful, BIG bathroom with great shower. Nice room, TV with lots of English language free movie channels.
A VERY recommendable place, best in town, I think as you feel part of the family, so much nicer than an impersonal hotel.
