“There is no best place to spend your honeymoon”

It is a paradise! We went there for our honeymoon and it was a great experience. It is located in a mountain close to downtown Ushuaia and during the winter time it is only achievable in a 4x4 (and need to be a good driver in snow!). But it is not a problem... Joaquin, the owner of the place, is always available to drive you to the city or back to the hotel, even if it is late at night. Joaquin looks after everything and make all efforts to let you have a wonderful stay. The cottage comprises a living room, a bedroom with a king size bed, a giant bathroom with a huge whirlpool, a kitchen, sauna (dry and vapor) and everyhting to make your stay perfect. The cottage is totaly made of wood and glass.

“Finisterris isn't what it seems to be... beware!!!”

I'd like to say that we had a very bad experience with Joaquín Fava, the owner almost from the beginning. To start with, as soon as we got into the cabin he got with us too, barefoot. He kept talking and talking and didn't seem to go away, which we saw as an invasion to our privacy.
The cabin wasn't very clean and it was quite messy. It seems that this guy lives in there because there was stuff that belonged to him everywhere.
He tells you that the food that's in the fridge is included and then he charges you, as he did with two bottles of wine. As there wasn't any price list available we thought they were included, besides, we'd payed for a 5 stars service so we thought that was fair. When we are about to leave, he tells us that we have to pay for what we'd drunk, what we did of course, without complaining. Later on he calls us on the phone while we were on the road back to our city and tells us that there was a fish on the fridge that belonged to a neighbour that we shoudln't have eaten, and he did it in a very rude manner. He should have stated that there were things that couldn't be eaten, since when we arrived he opened the fridge and said we could eat whatever we wanted.
Apart from all this, he told us we seemed to be as 3 year-old children because there was some dust on the stairs. If this is not an abuse, how'd you call it?
I'd advise tourists to be very careful with the manager because he's an abusive person who doesn't respect any privacy and and on top of this he offers a 5 stars service that's not such because half of the things were broken: in our cabin there were lots of things that weren't working, like a radiator, a heater, the jacuzzi, the hair-dryer which fell into pieces in my very own hands, some lights, the oven that didn't work right, and I could go on.
There are many other places to stay that offer a better service at a better price. Make sure that when you choose, you choose right and not as we did.

This is really an amazing and incredible place. We stayed there for honeymoon and it was fantastic. Joaquín (the owner) is very attentious, and he takes care of any problems you may have. Really fantastic!

“Great Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 January 2009

We stayed at his hotel for 2 evenings as part of our quick trip to Ushuaia and couldn't have had a better time. To start with, the location of the hotel on the side of the mountain is excellent with great views of the surrounding mountains and the Beagle Channel.

The cabins are great with spectacular large windows and unobstructed views. The view from the main bed is great and a lovely thing to wake up to in the morning. Everything was very clean and tidy the in cabin sauna and spa shower were very nice.

Finally, Joaquin, the owner, is great and does everything associated with the cabins (including building them) and hotel. He goes out of his way to make sure that all the guests have a great stay. He drives the guests into town when needed and is always around to help out with anything at all. All in all, a great place to stay.

“Love, Love Love Finasteris”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 December 2008

Finasterris Lodge was the perfect way to start off our honeymoon in November. Joaquim, the owner/host/driver is a one-man show. He did everything for us and he even gave us a cell phone to call him whenever we needed anything. He was awesome! He really wanted to make sure our stay was perfect and went out of his way for us and all his guests to ensure this. The house itself was amazing with 2 fireplaces, a gorgeous kitchen with a fully stocked fridge on arrival, a european shower and jacuzzi overlooking the city and your very own sauna. What??? It was an unbelievable place to stay. We even stayed in one night and enjoyed a brilliant 5-course king crab and seafood meal prepared by an talented chef, Rubin who was wonderfully entertaining as well.
