“Nothing special, still not bad though”

We stayed at the Hotel Cap Polonio for 3 days in early December 2005. The hotel wins big points for location, right in the middle of town on San Martin, walking distance to the port. The small cafe in the lobby is also nice and reasonably priced. The in room furnishings were a bit dated and the bathroom slightly run down, the bed was nice. None of the front desk staff, including the apparent manager, spoke English, an oddity in my opinion since Ushuaia bills itself on tourism and really tries to entice English speaking tourists. We also found the price to be a bit high for what you get, but this may simply be the norm for a tourist town in Patagonia. I'm overwhelmed with indifference. You could do better, you could do a lot worse.

“Unimpressed”

Though rated highly by the guidebook I was using, I found the hotel a disappointment. It is nicely located for walking to virtually anyplace in Ushuaia. The room was quite small with a single bed and a very small bathroom with little room in which to move. There was lots of noise from outside and the walls were thin with noise from adjacent rooms quite audible. Breakfast was traditional Argentine and quite adequate. The staff was very helpful and accomodating and all English speaking. The price seemed quite high for the quality of the room, but with being in Ushuaia higher prices for accomodations may have to be expected. I'd do a lot more research on other hotels in Ushuaia to see what better accomodations might be available before booking a stay there again.
