Most of the people staying here at this time are those that are working in Ushuaia. However, we were made to feel very welcome by staff and guests both! The hostel is very comfortable and in a very convenient location. There is a grocery store within a block. We had originally been in another hostel, but moved to this one and we are very glad we did!

Strange enough, this hostel seems to try to save costs at the wrong end, for instance all power outlets in the rooms have been disabled and so people sit longer in the uncomfortable kitchen area than necessary to charge their batteries -- and god knows modern travels have lots of those. The kitchen is ok, but nothing to brag about, and after we left some jamon in the fridge by accident before leaving for our trek (which led to dry bread on the trail for the first days) when we returned two days later we were treated very rudly under the assumption that we had attempted to use the fridge beyond our stay on purpose. The luggage deposit is a place under the stairs which is in no way guarded or safe.

I had a wonderful stay in the Cruz del Sur Hostel!! The staff is so lovely and helpful, they really make you feel like home. And also the hostel itself is a super comfortable place, the rooms are big enough, there is a well equipped kitchen where you can cook your own food, the breakfast is included in the price, and a cosy reading room with a computer in it (internet for free!), and its location is also perfect! I would definitely stay there again and recommend this great hostel!!

I stayed in this hostel in April 2008 and I have to admit that I really loved it. You feel at home from the moment you step in this colourful house. I've been to many hostels and usually the minus is that they have a hospital look with so many rules that you feel observed at all times and not comfortable. In the case of Hostel Cruz del Sur this is not true. Relaxation reigns!! You can cook your own food at all times(they have a very well equipped kitchen), hang out in the reading room(they have free internet access and wi-fi that works also in the rooms) , and the mattresses are really comfy.The people working there are really helpful and friendly and go always an extra mile to help you with everything you need. The hostel is also very well located. They close the reception late at night but guests are always allowed in with a security code that they are given upon check-in
