Despite the grim write up in Frommer's, we booked Los Alamos and were delighted with our stay. This is a lovely property with nice, comfortable rooms and pretty grounds. Yes, there is a golf course and spa, but there are across the street and in fact, hitting it at the tail end of a long trip, we made use of these facilities even though we aren't typically resort-property people. The hotel was a bit pricey, but it was in the same range of other established and boutique properties in this small town and we thought is was worth it. The restaurant serves a lavish breakfast which is included in the room charge, and packed up some very nice box lunches for us on the day we traveled out. The only negative from our vantage point is that our rooms were on the first floor, and the windows do not open all the way (for security reasons), which made the rooms a bit stuffy in the heat of the day. But our friends on upper floors got the full benefit of cool evening air and plenty of privacy. Overall, we found this to be a wonderful place to relax with our older children, explore the town and glacier, and basically decompress after 10 days in Argentina.
Room Tip: If you are visiting in the Argentine summer, ask for a room on an upper floor in order to get window...
