“Not worth the drive for the bad service and food.”

My wife and I decided to try the steak house and saloon because some friends in town had talked about it. After the 30 min drive, we were hungry for a good meal, which was not what we got. We were not greeted at our table until we got up to find someone, and were treated like we were a bother. Our waitress was Ashlee, and we found her to be overly rude and careless with our order. Our beverages were never brought to our table the entire time we were dining, and when our food arrived, it was completly wrong. My wife did not eat any of hers but Ashlee still charged us for it, then didn't return with our change...
We were very dissatisfied with how we were treated and will not be wasting another 30 min drive any time soon to visit again.

“Wonderful Getaway”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 September 2010

I had read the trip advisor reviews, so I sort of knew what to expect. It was just great. The service was excellent. The room was small, but what do you expect for 64 dollars. It was clean and functional. Next time we will bring a cooler and plan to cook out. The restuarant was excellent! The prices are not out of line and the food is top notch. I can still taste the prime rib, it was awesome. Lake Mary is close by and there were lots of people out fishing. This is a great place for kids to run and play in the woods. If you don't fish or ride quads or horses, you'll need to bring your own entertainment. No phones or TV's in the rooms, I'm not sure about the cabins. We plan to go again soon.

“We had a great time, but we always do!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 March 2010

I read all of these reviews before going and I'm somewhat grateful as my expectations were low.
We are bad planners so we faced Spring Break with no plans. I had heard of Mormon Lake Lodge but never been. I called with less than 24hours and they had a cabin. I chose the 'Pine View'. We were traveling with two young boys, I asked if there was still enough snow for snowmobiling they said at least 1.5 ft, okay!
We get there for our snowmobile ride at 1 and they had a few problems that made our ride postponed for 1.5 hours. We just played in the snow, sled and then warmed up in their steakhouse by the fire.
We had our guided snowmobile tour which was great! Beautiful pristine snow, fun going fast all good. The manager was wonderful to us and upgraded our cabin to a family cabin due to the lag in our plans. It was awesome. Big livingroom with two full sized couches and lounge chair, nice sized kitchen four person table with extra chairs, one bath, two big bedrooms: one with double bed and one with two sets of bunkbeds with full beds on the bottom. The boys were happy! Our bed wasn't too comfortable for us but we are spoiled. And I thought they had street lights outside my window but when I got up and looks it was the stars in the sky. Really, really bright!
The only thing I wasn't thrilled about is they had Direct TV. I really wanted to get away from all things with screens. Again the boys were happy. They supplied checkers and a table to play on - we took 'Pit' and Pictionary. But mostly we played in the snow. Great little sledding hill right outside our cabin.
We did eat at the steakhouse. The decor was great very lodgey. The Saloon and Steakhouse are basicly the same. They weren't serving dinner the night we were there but again accomodated us by cooking us some steaks. Good basic food. Good beer and booze. Cute and well stocked general store. They had all the fixings for smores but no fire. Bummer. I guess I could have nuked it.
Second day we drove into Flagstaff (about 30 minutes away) and had lunch at Diablo Burger. Rarest burger I've ever eaten yet delicious. Amazing Frites! All it was a great trip - I'm looking forward to a summer visit - great hospitality!

“Mormon Lake Lodge... best thanksgiving EVER!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 November 2009

I can't begin to tell you what a jewel we found just outside of flagstaff, arizona. We stumbled upon the Mormon Lake Lodge. It's got the feeling of a "dude ranch". They have a saloon and the best thanksgiving spread EVER! For just $18 a person with a minimum of five people you even get a whole turkey at your table... wow. Just take a look at the pictures! We'll be back next year!

“Disgusting Cabins / RV Park Crowded & Gross - Management is Trashy”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 August 2009

We've stayed at Mormon Lake Lodge twice per year since 2007 - at the RV park for 4th of July (because they're one of the few places in northern AZ with fireworks) and in the cabins to enjoy snow in December/January. This place has progressively gotten worse and worse every year!

The cabins - Small, old cabines, with broken furniture, old broken appliances, faucets that drip all night, outdated decor, broken mini-blinds, cabins smell gross, carpets stained, broken furnaces (a major problem when temps outside are in the single digits in winter!)

The RV Park - You are crowded in like sardines! We reserved a specific spot 6-months ahead of time so we'd be on an end-spot for 4th of July weekend (and relieve a little of that sardine feel.) Management gave away our spot and placed us in a tiny spot with no fire-ring and no picnic table. The manager was telling everyone that she can no longer guarantee that you will get a specific spot when you arrive. They might give you a spot # when you call and make the reservation, or they might tell you that you can have the spot you want, but when you arrive, the story changes. We actually watched a man get into a yelling match with the manager about this because he's been reserving the same RV spot for twelve years and this year, 2009, they tried to take his spot away. He was furious, and I don't blame him. If you make your reservation one-year ahead of time, you expect to get what you reserved!
If you stay in the RV park when there is a rodeo going on, you hear the announcer ALL DAY LONG and into the late-night. It is BEYOND ANNOYING!

The man in the RV right next to us had been camping up in the mountains for several days before he ended up next to us, and he decided to use his sewer connection as a dumping station and clean out his sewer tanks. There is a dumping station a couple miles away that charges $5 to dump your tanks, but I guess he decided he'd save the $5. The smell was soooo disgusting, and management did nothing about it. We packed up and left one-day early because we smelled sewer ALL DAY. It was so gross!

We overhead some employees talking about how several goats in the petting zoo had died because the mother goat had given birth and had difficulties, and no employees were around to help, so mom and a few babies died. It was so sad to see those poor little animals caged up (and probably neglected) for the sake of providing a petting zoo!

Management is uncooperative, unprofessional and down-right rude. I was nervous to give them my credit card for fear that it'll end-up in the hands of some meth-addict.

And yes, it is true, there is no lake there. Mormon Lake is more of a marsh than a lake! Save yourself the $ and find a nice hotel in eastern Flagstaff, then drive to Lake Mary, which is the real lake in the area.
