We spent 4 nights at the Patagonia Vista between Christmas and New Year - peak season. We found it decent and quite well priced, relatively speaking, but we would not rush back.
While the situation is very convenient for exploring the area, as it is very close to Cicuito Chico, some excellent restaurants and only 20km odd from Bariloche (which we found unattractive and to be avoided), and while it is on the lake and boasts beautiful views, it is just a no frills simple place. So, if you are used to travel using 3-4 star accommodations happily, this is a great option. Also, if you like self-catering facilities, this is also great for you.
However, if you are, like us, more comfortable with 4-5 star, pampering accommodations, you may be disappointed. The "spa" is a small space, nicely done, but nevertheless really intimate if you need to share it with strangers. It has a steam room (sauna) and a small heated pool which extends outdoors. It is beautiful and lovely to swim in the cold air - but it is uncomfortable to share with other people because of the confined space. We also could not find any professional attendance of the "spa".
The service in general - the very sweet and helpful Alejandro speaks very very little English and I think you will battle to manage with no Spanish. The girls helping there do not seem to speak it at all. When we needed advice on where to ride horses (very close by the Tom Wesley farm offers lovely rides), or directions for Circuito Chico, reservations for restaurants and so on, Alejandro was most obliging (in Spanish). But sometimes he was unavailable. That gives the place a feel of a small business which is a bit of a hit and miss operation. The breakfast is a case in point. They bring to the room (no dining room available) some average croissants, mediocre buns, some jam, cream cheese and dulce de leche, jug of milk, jar with coffee for the filter machine which you can then make, and a glass of bottle-orange juice, not fresh at all. This is a continental breakfast, but it definitely could do with some more effort (use beautiful media lunas, good wholewheat bread, better coffee, and fresh juice would be a good start). However, that said, if you know that you are opting for a self-catering place, you can buy your preferred items at one of the 3 supermarkets en route between Bariloche and the lodge.
If you don´t like the Argentine coffee which they ground with sugar, note that it is very hard to find there, and pack a packet of your preferred brand. We found that other items could be easily found in the shops around the place.
The 4 persons lake houses are great for 2 couples or a family with 2 kids (not young kids though as I would not allow them up the steep stairs, and there are no rails that are suitable for young kids. Also the pool is not for kids - there is no fence). The accommodation includes a large room with kitchenette in an open plan, separate bath and shower with toilet, a lounge with yet another kitchenette and guest toilet (there is a shower but it is not great at all) and an upstairs double room with a small study area.
The free internet is also a hit and miss affair - it keeps disconnecting. But it was sufficient for our purposes.
If you plan to have someone use the lounge as bedroom. ensure that they do not mind the lack of privacy. It is possible, but not ideal.
All in all - given that we paid $400 US for a night for 4 people, it is very reasonable. You could do worse. There are magnificent places around like the Casco Art Hotel and the Llao Llao, but they are 3-4 times the price.
