Villa Huinid made a very nice base for our stay in Bariloche.
The hotel is located just enough out of Bariloche and set back from the main road. This makes for a quiet location on a hill with an excellent view of the lake.
The staff was very friendly across the board, from check in to check out, the spa staff, the breakfast folks and the bar staff.
The included breakfast was pretty much over the top each day. I enjoyed poached pears every morning with the varied assortment of fresh fruits, cheeses, baked goods, juices, coffee and tea selection.
Our room was clean, quiet and comfortable.
The gym was adequate. Equipment a bit dated, but it sufficed.
Make sure you reserve the hot tub room. It is nice to take in the view from the tub. We did not know that a reservation was required when we just walked in and plopped ourselves in the first time. No one was rude or anything and we did not put anyone else out. We just did not know the policy. The staff seemed almost as embarrassed as we were. Future dips in the tub were not a problem.
The spa offered some happy hour discounts on packages when we were there. We took advantage of these. The quality was very good, staff nice and professional. No one minded that we were only doing discounted packages. The quality would have been worth regular price, but if you want to save a few dollars, ask if they have happy hour or any other specials.
One spa employee recommended a brew pub. I will never forget the delicious beers that night.
Same goes in the bar. After we had a massage one day, we went to the bar where the drinks were on offer for happy hour. The quality was excellent. No shorting the pour or putting in a smaller glass. We had the same drinks we enjoyed the night before....just that they were 2 for 1 the second time. The bartenders were all pleasant. Really seemed interested in our trip and wanted to ensure we were having a good time. One of the bartenders recommended a wine shop in town. Another recommended a chocolate shop in another town. Both were excellent recommendations.
Due to the location of Villa Huinid, it makes sense to have a car. It may not be the same experience if you use the bus and slog your things up the hill, or if you wait for cabs.
We booked Villa Huinid online. Took a chance after reading reviews and comparing other places. If you know you are definitely going to be in Bariloche and you know the dates, then you should book sooner rather than later. The rate went up after I booked, and continued to go up. This only was a problem when I wanted to extend our stay. The rate was more than double the original rate.
