“Fine hotel, excellent view”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2011

It was my first trip to Argentina. After heavy project what I have finished before my vacation I'd like just to have a rest and sleep simply. I searched for hotel in area Bariloche, but not in the city to avoid noise and a considerable quantity of people and cars. I have chosen the Aldebaran. And I wasn't mistaken.
Very silent and quiet place, amazing view from room 5 in which I have stayed. It is possible not to leave at all room, to sit and look out of the window. The big room with a balcony, the big bath. The small lack - since room is located on the top floor that at a strong wind in room can be a bit cool.
Hotel has 6 or 7 rooms so it is noisy never happens. All personnel is extremely kind, on a reception freely speak English. Atmosphere is family, as though you are in own home. No night life in hotel or nearby is present, but it was ok for me.
If you have no car to reach to Bariloche it is necessary either to call a taxi or to go on foot half an hour to a bus stop and then go on bus about half an hour. It was also ok for me as I am like of walking and a nature around was very beatiful.
The breakfast is a little poor compare with hotels of 4 stars for example in Europe, but to the Argentina's standards is quite normal (on a trip I stayed in 4 stars hotels in Buenos Aires and I can compare). The dinner and lunch are supper tasty, there is the wine cellar.
I didn't use SPA and small pool.
In general if you search quiet, lonely and meditative rest the Aldebaran that that is necessary.

“Lovely all around”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2011

We loved our stay in the Aldebaran. After 4 days trekking in the Bariloche mountains this was a wonderful place to recover. The understated style, the restaurant (small menu but very well done), the well equipped rooms, the beautiful views of the lake and surrounding mountains, all of it made it a memorable stay for us. We don't agree with the negative comments of the staff at all. We actually found the staff to be very engaging at times, but totally unintrusive when it was called for. Do keep in mind that a rental car is very useful if you want to venture out beyond the hotel.

“Well Located and Intimate”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2011

Perfectly comfortable rooms, with nice views. The hotel's bar and restaurant also have views over the lake. The bathroom was adequate and definitely benefitted from the evenings on which the wet towels were removed. The higher rooms have better views but are smaller. The restaurant and bar have good views and there is a floating deck on the lake where one can admire the scenery.
The food is good but the menu is limited and did not change during the week we were there, added to which 2 of the courses were not on the menu, so we were going out to eat on occasions when we would have eaten at the hotel had the choice of dishes been wider. The member of staff with whom we had most communication could benefit from less "attitude" and desist from treating customers as if they have never visited a hotel before, prefacing her condescension with "let me explain you something".
The swimming pool is very small and univiting and the 'spa' is a misnomer.

“beautiful views”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 December 2010

You will need a car if staying here- but it is worth the effort. It is a stylish hotel set on the San Pedro peninsula about 20 k from Bariloche itself. It has wonderful views over lake Nahuel Huapi. and all rooms benefit from this. Our room didn't have a balcony, but had 2 huge picture windows and the views of the sunset were stunning. The room itself was large, well furnished with a wonderful bathroom with separate drench shower.. The bed was very comfortable, and we slept well in the complete quiet
We ate every evening in the hotel, and enjoyed each meal. We felt it was not expensive, and the wine list was reasonable too. The breakfast was also excellent, and all the staff were friendly helpful and spoke good English

“Loved the room, loved the food!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 December 2010

We stayed here for three nights. The room was fantastic with a great view of the mountains and very unique bathtub and shower also with a view of the lake and mountains. The room was also warm which we can't say about all the rooms we had in Patagonia! The staff were very nice and attentive. The restaurant at Aldebaran is a hidden gem. We ate here all three nights and the food was wonderful. The only downside of this place is that it was rather far from town, which would make it hard if you did not have a vehicle. The surface of the road is pretty bad which was rather surprising for a wealthy neighbourhood, but what lies at the end of it is worth the drive!
