I gave a 4 instead of 5 because of our room only. Everything else about the stay was a solid 5/5! The room itself was a bit 80's, small and no a/c, however the room itself was clean, quant, with an Amazing Lake view. The staff was amazing. Most of the staff knew us by name and remembered our special diets, requests and wine preferences. The sommelier was very knowledgeable! Every detail of our hotel experience was top notch! We escaped out onto the lake in the sailboat on the front page of the Las Balsas website. This family owned boat ride is special, highly recommended! We enjoyed massages and energy work, which was a very special experience. The lake and town of Villa La Angostura reminded us a bit of Lake Tahoe, with its great local shops and amazing views. Las Balsas' GM gifted us a tour around the Villa La Angostura, which was completely above and beyond our expectation! Lastly, we enjoyed an amazing horse back ride up/down a local mountain, with great mountain and lake views. This portion of our total trip was for relaxation and exploration. Our stay here was complete perfection!

We enjoyed a lovely three days at Las Balsas as part of our honeymoon in Argentina & Brazil. The lounge has a very welcoming feel and a great open fire for the chillier evenings! The food is first-class - certainly not your average hotel restaurant - and Pablo the sommelier recommended some excellent yet not stupidly expensive wines.
The rooms are not luxurious, but are absolutely perfect for a relaxing stay by the lakes - and when you consider that the area is a winter ski resort, then the rooms are certainly way above what you would normally expect in a ski hotel. What a magnificent view of the lake and mountains when you open the curtains in the morning !
Ignacio the concierge was superb in detailing, recommending and arranging trips - we went on a boat trip, hike and horse-ride and it all went perfectly. Both Pablo and Ignacio were most helpful in recommending other places, trips in Argentina - the overriding feeling we received was that they love their country and want guests to enjoy it and love it too.
All the staff were very welcoming and friendly and they could not do enough for us - without ever being imposing - they were happy to chat if you approached them on a subject.
The spa is also very good, although note that treatments do need to be booked normally the previous day.
We would certainly recommend the Las Balsas to anyone staying or visiting Villa La Angostura - it is a small hotel and therefore the service much more personal. Even if you are not staying at the hotel you can still go there to eat - and we would also strongly recommend doing that.
Thankyou for a fantastic three days - we'll certainly be coming back next time we go to Argentina.

As New Yorkers, my wife & I can be difficult - Las Balsas exceeded our expectations in every area. Our room was right on the lake. We can't wait to return, in a couple of years.
Should not be missed, if possible.

Charming location & attentive staff ... Our only critiscism was regarding the food, they should mix the "inventive" with a few simpler dishes.

Anywhere that has a blazing log fire in the gym / spa in the evenings is to be commended.
