Gorgeous house with lovely rooms and tranquil courtyard and garden. Unfortunately if you are going on tours most of this is wasted as you won't have time to sit and enjoy them, as you will be out every morning before breakfast. The location is good, easy walking distance into the town centre and the bonus is that it is fairly close to the bus station (midway between the town centre and the bus station). Comfortable bed, good quality bed linen and towels, and though we didnt use it there is air conditioning
The rooms are stylish, however there is little space to put your suitcases and it's' a battle to find places to put all the cushions and candles which adorn the room to make room for your own bits and pieces. As the rooms face the outer corridor you do have to endure the noise of people entering the pousada and walking past your room, especially if you leave your window open, so best pick a room further away from the front of the house.
I just have a gripe about this famous brunch. Don't get me wrong, the breakfast is very good but when they mention their special Andean brunch I expected something more extravagant rather than a glass of orange juice, coffee, a bowel of fruit salad sprinkled with cornflakes and milk, two pieces of toast and 2 croissants (basically what is provided by most other pousadas). One memorable offering on day 1 was a piece of toast soaked in syrup and an omelette on day 2 - hardly a special Andean brunch. This criticism aside I have to say everything else was excellent..... but the least I expect is to choose what I eat at breakfast and not be presented with a tray of food, only option being tea or coffee. Interestingly all the other guests at breakfast said exactly the same thing, we all expected something quite different from a brunch, especially one so highly rated. So cut out the "special Andean brunch" heading and your expectations will not be disappointed.
Just one other thing, we met a lovely Belgium couple who we kept bumping into throughout our trip. Unfortunately we were pick pocketed in Santiago and along with it went their email address, so should they be reading this, please contact us
Room Tip: Rooms at the back or upstairs are quieter
