When we arrived from the airport we had some diffeculties finding the hotel right away. Although the Hotel is not small the sign outside obove the door certainly is! This is definitely a point they can improve!
We stayed in total for 3 nights in this Hotel. And had 2 different rooms. Both rooms were ok. The second room we had when we came back after a tour in the provence was even beter. Nice view on the cathedral. When we arrived at 23.00 we could have diner at 23.30 and the girl at the reception helped us by making a phonecall for a horse-backriding-trip the next day. Breakfast starts being served extremely early at 5.30 a.m. and was good and one of the best we had seen on our voyage through Argentina.
Good WIFI or Ethernet internet is avaiable in rooms.

...there was a luxury hotel in the centre of the town and the hotel was called "Salta".
Unfortunately a lot of time has passed since that day.
We had to stay in hotel Salta for 3 nights as it was practically the only option - all the other centrally located hotels were full. We are not usually picky when it comes to the accommodation but if the asked price is above average then we start looking what we are paying for.
The first impression was good. Very old school - large wooden reception desk in the lobby, small elevator, dark and long corridors with squeeking wooden floors. And of course the location was excellent - by the central plaza.
Unfortunately the room was crappy. Small, very small. The windowblinds did not work, half of the lamps in the room did not work, one night there was no hot water and the staff... Well they were not very welcoming.
We did not spend much time in the hotel but for us it seemed that the asked price was too much for that quality. There are far better choices in the centrum (we saw them but they were all full) with much lower prices. If I go back to wonderful city of Salta again then hotel "Salta" will not be my choice.

Showed up at the Hotel Salta right from the bus station. English spoken at the front desk. A bonus for us. This hotel was very clean and comfortable.The location on the main square...plaza, was perfect.The museums and Cathedral where within a block. There where many great places to eat close by. Tour groups down one street and car rentals down another. We spent 4 days here and rented a car and drove up to Purmamarca and Humahuaca. Getting in and out of Salta can....and will be exciting...
This hotel was perfect for our trip. Our room had a great view of the Cathedral....lit up at night....and the mountain with its gondola lift. The hotel being downtown was handy for shopping both on the main street as well as the small shops down the side streets.
We always felt safe in this neighborhood even later at night.....on the main streets.

Fantastic location! Charming but a bit weared hotel. Helpful and professional staff, english speaking. Our room was very simple, but okay. We had a standard double. Quite small bed though. Despite the location not very expencive. About same price as the uncharming and poorer located Hotel Wilson.
