“Rather tired but not bad”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 February 2011

I echo the bulk of the results below. It probably was a good hotel and in some ways it still is. The 5stars it awards itself are a joke by European standards. I reckon it would take a 3.
Staff were helpful and pleasant from the pool to the room to reception.
It just needs a bit of money spent on it. I paid $106 ++ via agoda and so was ok value. I wouldn't have been happy paying more.
Oh. The two dirty beggar children at the front entrance don't help first impressions.

“Decaying 4 star hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 February 2011

We stayed here one night on our 3-week trip to Argentina/Chile with Adventures Abroad. Our room was large but there were obvious signs, like peeling wallpaper, dirty carpeting, that reflected deferred maintenance. The group had dinner at the hotel and the buffet excellent as was the breakfast buffet.

“Not a 5 star”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2011 via mobile

This hotel was fabulous at some stage but that was a long time ago. Now it is shabby, dated and not a great place to stay. Our room had filthy carpet, noisy aircon and old dirty bedcovers. The aircon when on leaked water on the carpet so at the end of 3 days half the floor was saturated wet. It was the worst hotel we stayed in in Argentina but the same price as the others. I don't know what the other hotels in the area are like. The town of peurto Iguazua wasn't impressive in general. This hotel may suit families with kids as there is a nice pool and well maintained grounds. It needs to be refurbished though.

“Not too bad in the context of a shambolic country”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 January 2011

I thought it was ok but not great value for the $130 we paid per night. Lift is too slow. Wifi dreadful even in the hot lobby because you could not get it in the well air-conditioned room. I found the staff quite nice given the general Argentine ambience. Generally Argentina has atrocious service so this place wasn't too bad in that regard if you compare it to the others. Argentina really has to improve its attitude to tourism. One thing though, compared to other places this hotel has pretty good breakfasts and not a bad 24 hour cafe as well as a restaurant that shares a kitchen with the cafe. I poked my head inside and it is very clean. I liked the staff at the cafe and at the desk; and the cleaning was thorough in the rooms. But Iguazu generally needs to cater better to tourists. It takes at least 45 minutes of queuing to get to your money on the few ATMs in town. Very inconvenient when you have limited time as tourists do. The falls are amazing- but Argentina is not making the most of this incredible attraction. It is like they don't want to make money. Aerolineas Argentinas lost our luggage twice in a row. They didn't fail to lose it. 100% record! Well I guess that is a form of success. We met a Canadian whose luggage they misplaced twice in a row also. On the bus to Iguazu we were scammed at Retiro (because we did not fly to Iguazu). The airline MUST get its act together- its appalling and they are very complacent and excuse making about it. It has left us with a poor impression of Argentina generally. The national carrier is the flag bearer of the country after all. So in the context of being in a self-service you-are-on-your-own shambles of a country, this particular hotel was relatively good. Lets be fair here... its quite OK in that context and the staff are quite pleasant and the rooms are clean and agreeable. But its 2011 and customers expect fast wifi. Its like the whole country is in a time warp.... not impressed with Argentina at all actually- but the hotel is quite OK when you look at the general atmosphere of the country.

“Think twice before booking this hotel”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 December 2010

This hotel when you first walk in has a lot of potential and I was not expecting the world of this moderate priced location. But I would say the number one thing lacking is the staff needs to understand customer service. (This is not directed at the entire staff) But I am sorry to say- your employees reflect who you are to the people who stay there. Also there was several small issues...Water leak in the second floor lobby area, no Hot water when we arrived (this was fixed) and Internet was down as well as no internet in the rooms. (only in the lobby).

My reccomendation- wait for the hotel to spend some money on updating the hotel interior, and training their staff more extensively on how to handle customers.

Location- It was actually in a good location -close to Iguazu (15 min taxi ride), and close to down town (10 min taxi/bus ride)

pools/Spa- The spa are and gym were good. If we did not leave because of the poor service, we might of used this.

Side note- This might be a good place for family as our room was a split wing and can accomadate 4 people in one room. (But once again- I would wait for the place to spend some money and update the look of the hotel.
