“Fantastic Staff”

I spent a single night here with my partner while we were touring Iguazu Falls. We stayed in a suite. Decoration was a bit frilly for my tastes, but overall a very nice room. The hotel is not really near the the falls so we had to take a car to the national park to see them. We walked around the town itself near the hotel which honestly is quite dusty and a bit depressing. We ate in both the restaurant and the bar and the food was fine in both. We also gambled a bit at the slots. If you plan on staying here you should be aware that the casino takes US dollars only. The thing that really sets this hotel apart is the service. Everyone on staff really went out of their way to be friendly and helpful and to make sure we were comfortable. Overall a friendly comfortable place to stay that probably would be rated a 3 by me on amenties alone, but is deserving of a 4 due to the wonderful staff.

Room Tip: There is currently some ongoing construction. When you reserve ask to have a room set a way from it...

“Can I give 3.5 please?!”

Tough to rate Iguazu Grand really. We got a great deal through a third party group but only late on and nearly paid full rate. If we had paid full rate we'd have been very disappointed. We got put in a room with the renovation work being done right overhead - it was a nightmare! They had no equivalent room available so downgraded us to a room away from the noise. As a compensation they gave us free massages in their spa. They dealt with the difficulty incredibly well and were so good about it. In fact, the room we were downgraded to was a Junior Suite and although smaller (but still hugely spacious) than the Garden Suite we'd originally been in, it was a much nicer room. It was in the new wing, so ask for a room there if you plan to stay. The real let down was the food - breakfast was decent (but not top hotel standard) and the dinner (included in package) was very poor. My starter with a list price of something like 40 pesos was prosciutto with bits of melon thrown on top. I re-created the exact dish the next morning from the breakfast buffet! Don't eat at the restuarant. Dining options aren't great in Puerto Iguazu but Aqva is far better (and cheaper) than the hotel restaurant. Some other stuff: the pool wasn't particularly clean, the massages were top class, the concierge staff friendly, the bathrom towels not always clean and it was 20 minutes walk to town centre.
Anyway, the rooms and service were fantastic but the details and food let the place down. 3.5 is the right score I think.

Room Tip: Don't bother with the higher grade rooms - the standard room (Junior suite) is as good as most h...

“Zero ambience”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

Perhaps, the most disappointing hotel I have ever stayed in. Website looked fantastic, booking process quite simple etc, but once checked in, things went down hill. The room was a bit of a trek but that wasn't the half of it. Room was massive but soulless. It had everything you need, in fact, the bathroom was excellent but there was nothing to it. My main gripe with this place is the restaurant. Attempted to eat in the restaurant once and that was enough. Service was painfully slow, when the food arrived, one was wrong. Instead of taking everything away they just took away the wrong one. So, everyone else had to eat theirs while the other cooked. They did offer a free desert; great. It came frozen (it wasn't supposed to be!!!!). We went to the casino that night to forget about the dinner to find out, as foreigners, we could only use US dollars to play. We're not American, why would we have dollars? So, we couldn't even use the casino. Breakfast is very poor. Very little choice and quality not the best. Paid USD350 per night and felt totally ripped off.

Room Tip: Stay clear of the new wing that's being built. Jackhammers in the morning.

Very nice hotel with great facilities and a great place to stay for the falls. The rooms are spacious and well equipped and the service throughout the hotel is excellent.
Breakfast was plentiful and varied with great views of the lovely swmming pools.
The town is a 15 mins easy walk away where there are some good restuarants at reasonabke prices.
Easiest way to the falls is to walk down to the main road and catch the bus.Buy a return ticket for a fraction of the price of the hotel shuttle service or a local taxi.

“Beautiful Hotel”

We stayed here for two nights, and were impressed by the location and the surrounding atmosphere. The rooms were very nice and the lobby was a nice place to relax. However, we did have a problem with the hotel shuttle service. They told us that they were the only transportation to the falls, which was not true. They are, of course, trying to get as much revenue as they can, but $40 to use their shuttle service no matter how far you are going is a bit much. We found a much cheaper taxi company in town, with service that was just a phone call away. Hilton was building a hotel nearby. If I ever return, I'd try the Hilton.
