You stay here because you like SPACE in your accommodations! Book a suite -- the living room is huge and the bedroom was very nice. We were on the 15th floor with a view of the Plaza d'Italia and spent quite a bit of time just gazing at the city and surrounding mountains. There's a flat panel TV in the bedroom but not in the living room. Bathroom is nice but as others mentioned there's a bit of a sewage smell coming from the drain in the bathroom floor. We just put a towel over the drain and -- problem solved!
Folks at the front desk were very helpful with dinner reservations, car rental, etc. Alan was particularly good. When checking in we did get the "we're upgrading you to our 4 star sister hotel" routine that was described by a couple of other commenters on this website, but being forewarned I just insisted that we wanted to stay HERE and they figured it out. Maybe the other hotel is really nice, but we like SPACE and not just a regular hotel room -- however nice it might be. I think the other hotel has a lot more ammenities though so you might check it out in advance if you're offered this option at checkin -- maybe you'll want to take it!
Breakfast was fine with scrambled eggs and some sausage. Lots of pastries, juice, yogurt, cereal, fruit, etc.
Photos on hotel's website of rooms are accurate.
There's not a real restaurant or bar in the hotel -- although they would say that the breakfast room where they also serve drinks, snacks, and lunch is a restaurant. We like a good hotel bar/restaurant so this was a bit of a negative but there are LOTS of nearby places. Workout facilities looked nice but we didn't use them. Rooftop pool area would probably be inviting on a really hot day but it's not a particularly inviting space.
All-in-all this place delivered what we were looking for -- a very nice and spacious accommodation with a quiet place to sleep and a good view. They deliver very good value for the price.
We rented a car one day to drive to Aconcagua and took the 1 or 2 mile hike out to see it more clearly. There's a viewing area about 100 yards from the main road but you'll get a much better sightline to the mountain if you take the hike. There's a secondary road that can take you up a ways from the main road but it was closed when we were there so we had to walk the whole way. We love mountains so this was a good day for us.
We hired a driver/guide to take us wine tasting for a day. Had a good time but unless you really have specific wineries that you MUST visit then I think that one of the small tours (6 or 8 people) would be fine too. Guide & car cost us $150 but we had to pay for our own tastings & lunch. Don't know what the tours cost. One tip though -- if you have specific wineries that you want to visit then I recommend you make arrangements quite a while in advance with a local guide so that he/she can make the reservations. The wineries require rez and they book up. We only contacted the guide about 48 hours before we wanted to go and a couple of the wineries we requested were already fully booked.
Room Tip: Ask for a suite on an upper floor with a view of the Plaza d'Italia
