“What a warm atmosphere”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

From the moment we arrived, Javier was very warm and welcoming as was the rest of his staff. The rooms are beautiful and inviting and the breakfast delicious. We soon were relying on Javier for information about what wineries to visit besides the day we were going on his wine tour. After our first day of tasting the great wines of Mendoza, we knew Javier was the guy to hire for our tour of the Andes. It is a long drive up to Mt. Aconcagua ( the tallest mountain in the Americas) but by then we were old friends and had an exciting trip. The B&B Italia is centrally located for great restaurants and shopping~all open late into the evening. We highly recommend the B&B Italia and look forward to staying there again soon.

“Home away from home in Mendoza”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

From the moment we stepped through the front door, we knew we were in the right place. The B&B is beautifully decorated, with original artwork and real furniture (not mass-produced for hotels). We met with Javier in the courtyard, which is cool and ivy-covered. Over tall glasses of ice cold water, we talked about our 3 days of wine and Andes tours, where to find good restaurants, wine bars and shopping, and just got to know each other. The rooms were lovely, the staff was warm and helpful, the breakfast was excellent (real, squeezed juice!!)

Be sure to go on one of Javier's wine tours. They are informative, varied, private for you only, and the wines you will taste are excellent. We thought we wouldn't be able to bring wine home, but Javier provided wine boxes (50 pesos each) that protected the wines through 6 more flights. We are drinking the wine now in the U.S. (you will have to pay for the boxes as checked luggage on U.S. flights, but the cost of the wine, per bottle, is still very reasonable.)

We would strongly recommend staying at the B&B Plaza Italia and will be returning there ourselves as soon as we can.

Room Tip: We stayed in one room and saw 2 others. They are all beautifully decorated. I would recommend that...

“Great B&B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

My husband and I visited here in January 2012 and had a great time. From the moment we walked in we were greeted by such kind and helpful people. One of the front desk staff gave us a map and showed us all the different areas to see. She also helped us book tours and find places where we wanted to go. The room is very nice and they have a/c which comes in handy during the summer months. The breakfast is amazing and being there felt like home. I could have not be any more pleased with this B&B and it will definitely be a place where we stay when we go back to Mendoza.

“Wonderful stay at B&B Plaza Italia and amazing Wine Tour and Tasting with Javier”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

I stayed at B&B Italia with my mother and aunt who came to visit me in Argentina and we all absolutely loved it. The location is central on one of the Plazas, the owners Javier and his mother Mercedes and the staff couldn't be friendlier, welcoming and personal, breakfast is delicious and prepared to accommodate your plans to head out and the house is just beautiful with a lot of character and feels like a home as the family used to live there before transforming it into a B&B. The rooms are big and super clean, the courtyard is very cute, there is Wifi in the whole house as well as a Computer to use for guests.
The owners' personal recommendation and insider tips were very helpful and the all day private Wine Tour "The Malbec Effect" with Javier was the best activity we did in Mendoza. The selection of 4 completely different Bodegas was perfect, all tours were extremely interesting, very individual and customized and we learned a lot and obviously enjoyed the wine tastings and the gourmet lunch paired with wines very much (coincidently at one of my favourite Bodegas.) With Javier it feels like you have a friend showing you around, on our way home he even took us around the park and drove us up the Cerro de la Gloria - we highly recommend him as a host and guide!

“This B&B makes me want to return to Mendoza”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

The family and staff that run the B&B is wonderful. As soon as we walked in the door, Cecilia sat us down with cookies and water. This a beautifully decorated home, with a cute courtyard where you sit - and chill out with a glass of wine.

Later in the day, Javier sat with us and gave us a map and detailed run down of Mendoza - the town, recommendations on where to dine, and get the yummiest helado.

Breakfast was nice - breads, croissants, cheese, ham, the coffee - is not that great but they had yummy fresh orange juice. The home has two tables set up where you can eat with other guests and exchange vacation stories.

We stayed in a triple room, which was pretty a good size. The beds in our room were a little on the hard side, but I'm used to sleeping on a pillow top mattress.

The bathroom was a decent size, and the shower was good, with plenty of hot water. Bring your own shampoo/conditioner - this is a B&B and not a hotel. We had an excellent stay here at this B&B. If we ever return to Mendoza, we will definitely book B&B Plaza Italia. My girlfriends and I felt like we were visiting and staying with friends. It is very homey and clean.

P.S. We didn't go with Javier on his wine tour - but went another route. While I don't regret the route we went, I will still recommend going on the wine tour with Javier. We met guests that went with him and they had wonderful things to say about his tour. Plus he is so knowledgeable about Mendoza. So next time, Javier - I promise! :)
