“Decent accomodation, worst service ever...I would avoid until they change management”
Our stop to Mendoza was one we were very much looking forward to - after 36 hours bus across Argentina. Unfortunately, Soltigua turned out to be the worst place we stayed at during our holiday, due to very poor service from very young staff not properly trained and a non-existing manager, who finally materialised and, to end on a positive note, threatened us to take more money from our credit card if we wrote a bad review! What a crazy thing to say for someone in that position!
Here is the full story, if you want to know more:
As we had changed plans we phoned the hotel to extend the booking for one more night. The person on duty we spoke to confirmed it was all done. With hindsight, we are not sure he had understood our request although my friend did ask for an English speaker and they confirmed he was...We arrived at the hotel at around 2300 on a Wednesday night (sizeable and cute apartments by the way) only to find out that in fact we did not have a place to stay for the following night. The staff in reception was very young and did not deal with the situation with any sort of client servicing skills. We asked to speak to the manager but she was nowhere to be seen.
Next morning they told us they had found a solution and it was all sorted. When we returned that afternoon we found out that that solution meant us not having a room until 10pm! They were surprised at our request of at least using other shower facilities and reluctantly let us in another room. Again, we asked for the manager but she was not around.
At check out time we were presented with a bill for the second night that was twice what paid via Expedia (nearly $150) and did not reflect in the slightest the fact that we only accessed the room at 10pm or any of the other trouble. Again, dialogue with the manager was via these young staff that kept stepping out of the room when speaking to her. We weren't getting anywhere so we asked to check out later in the afternoon with the manager and that she should hence grace us with her presence. We told them they could move our luggage from the rooms and that we would only want to sort out finances later with the manager.
When we returned the manager was finally there - and with a bill that featured a third night on it - since we had not checked out properly in the morning!! We had a bus to catch and no time to argue so had to settle for the full extortionate rate they had put forward for the second night... She did take the third night off. As we were leaving we told her we would write a bad review and she literally said "if you write a bad review I will take money from the credit card I have on record". It think this is shocking.
