“Petit in size but big on value!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

Stayed in this hotel late August 2011 and was impressed with how clean the tiny room was. Furnishings were basic, good continental breakfast, very helpful English speaking staff and near to great restaurants and shopping. Best thing of all was the price!

“Clean with an excellent location.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 August 2011 via mobile

We stayed at the sister hotel, Kapac Hotel", which was across the street. The hotel was very clean but there wasn't anything special about the hotel. The location was great. It was very close to the interesting but busy street, Las Heras. It was also near Sarmiento, which is a street that has a lot of nice restaurants on it. It had underground parking at garage across the street, free wifi in the dining area and breakfast of good coffee, pastries and juice. Breakfast is never huge in Argentina. This breakfast was average. Our room was super small but we were able to fit 3 bags into the room.

“very happy”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 August 2011

this is the kind of hotel i am looking for everywhere i go: centrally located, reasonably priced, no frills but more than sufficient on the basics with an excellent, helpful staff.

i have been traveling around south america during july and august, which is winter down here, and i have been cold in many of the places i've stayed. hotel petit was warm!

some of the reviews i read brought up some points that i wanted to address:

tv in the rooms now has cable, plenty of english-speaking programs.

there are three outlets in the rooms. one for the tv, one for the air conditioner, and one free one for guest use.

the internet has normal moments as well as slow ones, more normal than slow. making skype calls was not a problem--95% of the time. still only available in common areas, not in the rooms.

no issues with slow drains, perfectly good, and very hot shower--actually, maybe too hot as the cold tap seemed to dispense lukewarm water and the hot tap scalding water, but i'm not complaining about that in south american winter.

i should mention that the central location of the hotel makes the neighborhood quite noisy. even with the windows closed on the third floor, i felt i was sitting outside. i like the sounds of life, but if you need it to be super-quiet, it's just not.

really kind and helpful staff. i felt very well looked after.

very happy with the petit hotel.

Room Tip: what out for the edges of the bed, i banged my shins EVERY SINGLE TIME i walked past

“Fair price, simple but clean hotel. Remember that it's a 1 star hotel!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 July 2011

Service: The hotel has a friendly staff, always trying to help you. Really nice staff.

Room: Small room and small bathroom. There's an old but good heating system. There's a 14 inch tube TV with local channels only (no cable). The main issue is that there was only ONE power outlet in the entire room and the TV was plugged there. If you need to use your electric shaver, hair dryer or if you wanted to charge your cell phone, camera batteries or laptop batteries... you had to unplug the TV. There's a school on the corner and you can hear the noise o the children in the room.

Location: The location in great and you can visit the city without using car or taxi. There's a Carrefour store in front of the hotel, so you can find anything you need there (including ATMs).

Amenities: The hotel has a paid parking lot. I don't remember the price, but it's not expensive. There's also free wi-fi internet in the lobby, but I could use it in my room. I wouldn't call it "high speed internet" since the connection sometimes was VERY slow (it was not possible to make skype calls because of the speed).

Room Tip: 1st or 2nd floor to find wi-fi signal in the room.

“Great basic, budget hotel.”

If you're looking for the Ritz look elsewhere but if you just want a very clean, basic, albeit small, room with private bathroom this might be the hotel for you. Everything is on a small scale in this hotel, from the narrow stairways, to the phone booth sized elevator to the tiny but very comfortable rooms. The hotel is kept very clean with fresh towels and soap supplied daily. A basic, continental breakfast is included in the budget price as well as free WiFi in the lobby, common area. The location is perfect for exploring downtown Mendoza, everything is in easy walking distance. The staff are very friendly and helpful and speak varying levels of English. We also booked a winery tour and an Andes tour through the hotel and found we got a much better deal than others on the tour. Again, this is not a 5 star hotel. It is a very basic, budget hotel but if you're just looking for a clean and comfortable place to sleep this is a good option at about $45.00 USD for a double or a twin room.
