Very good room, spacy and clean. Nice staff, the neighborhood is great, you can go walking, by bus or by taxi easily. I totally recommend. Much better the a hotel room.

I stayed at the Callao Suites for three days in my visit to Buenos Aires last month. It is a well arranged efficiency apartment, with basic amenities, clean, and comfortable. The cleaning service and the security at the entrance are excellent and friendly. The location is superb, since it is at few meters from the busy corner of Avenida Callao and Santa Fe. With subways, public transportation and plenty of stores. The price ($70 a night) is very good too. Note that this is not a hotel. No room service, butlers, swimming pool, fitness center or restaurant. But this is something I did not mind, since there are plenty of bakeries, restaurants and cafes nearby. Buenos Aires is a walk friendly city, and this location is optimal as a start and end point. If you wish to walk to Recoleta, along Ave. Sta. Fe to the port area and Puerto Madero, or to Avenida Corrientes with thee theater ares. So, if you are looking for an affordable, clean, safe, and centric place, you should consider this place. If you are used to be pampered in your room, with 100 amenities, it may not be your cup of tea. I highly recommend it.

Well, I can't really evaluate this hotel fully since they screwed up our reservation (it was paid for in advance). They misplaced our name so the reservation was under a generic "university" name (they booked and paid for the hotel. So, of course they could not locate my lab and hence provided no room. They informed me that they were full and simply handed me back my passport. This poor service for visitors from another country, is not good business practice. They made zero effort in helping me find another hotel. They displayed zero sympathy for me because I was stranded without a hotel in the evening. When the university complained about their poor service, they were not responsive. I don't know if this was representative, but I would never consider staying here again.

I stayed at Callao Suites for a week in January. From other reviews it sounds like they have improved things a bit, which is good because this is not a place I would recommend. Things started badly when we could not get into the building (its a secured apartment building, not a hotel) and the security guard would not let us in even though we had a reservation. Finally managed to get hold of the lady who was in charge of renting the suites for vacations, and we got in. The suite was a bachelor, decent size with mini kitchen and private bathroom, but unfortunately was not very clean. It was also a bit shabby. I had been expecting it to look quite classy (from the photos on Expedia) but this was not the case. The maid actually left the dirty floor towel from the previous guests, even though I asked for a new one, we never got one the whole week. Also there were no kitchen towels (difficult to use anything in the kitchen without them!) and only 2 bath towels for the whole week! I asked for more bath towels but we never got any. So overall a bit of a disappointment. We booked on Expedia, and usually I find them very good, but they really dropped the ball on this property. On the upside, it is a great and safe location, and the building does have a swimming pool! which we used on several occassions.
