We stayed at la cayetana in December 2011 for 2 nights. Once you enter the large gates you forget about the busy city behind you. The beautiful garden and simple rooms are perfect as an escape to the noise and traffic of the city. The staff was very friendly and went out of their way to make sure we got our taxi on time as well as recommended a great restaurant in the area. That's what you would expect from a good hotel which does not pretend to be what it isn't. I would stay here again any time!!

Hotel Cayetana is a beautifully restored old building in Montserrat. Gorgeous tiled floors, lovely garden space but what really made it was the staff who simply could not have been any more helpful sorting airport pickup, taxis in the city, ferries, Tigres cabins anything we needed. Our three year old daughter fell in love with the place. For us the location was perfect - one block from bot aux Charpentier, a great shop for old style gaucho clothes and Campo di Fiori an excellent family Italian. Not in San Telmo but only 15/20 minutes wall to Plaza dorrego.

We have been 2 nights in La Cayetana. It is a nice place in Montserrat, which is a nice neighborhood. We had one of the two rooms facing the streets. We cannot recommend these rooms because they are directly on the street and it is impossible to open the windows as people on the street are directly in front of you room - and it would be too noisy to sleep. But apart from these noisy rooms the B&B is quite nice and people working there are friendly and helpful. Breakfast is okay and the location is good if you want to visit the main tourist highlights and San Telmo. The only disadvantage is that it is a bit too far away from lovely Palermo. But all in all we can recommend to stay here.

The fact that this hotel has no real street presence should not put you off - once you go through the large wooden doors you are in another world. We were given the best room in the place, a two level suite, which was a real treat for the start of our South American trip. The staff were friendly, helpful and generous. The breakfast was excellent and the afternoon tea on the terrace a delight after a hard day's sightseeing.
The area around the hotel is a bit "unreconstructed" but we had no problems at all. Mind the potholes. Very convenent for San Telmo and the Microcentro.
