I tried two book two nights via the website having read a good review in a guide book. As I didn't have a paypal account, I couldn't pay the deposit on line so I called them to sort it out and, in fairness, they did say that the reservation was confirmed.
It was hard to find the place when I arrived in a taxi as the address given to me by V & S hostel club wasn't correct (it was the right street and the right block, but the wrong number).
The public areas of the hostel were fine and there was free wifi which was useful.
I was just disappointed with the room given that I was paying US$70 a night. It was small, the curtains weren't that good at blocking out light and the air conditioning was controlled by the receptionist (seriously). The bathroom was functional and of a reasonable size. The towels provided were off white and one had a stain on it.
The breakfast was ok, but I did find the sign asking you to wash up your dishes after yourself quite amusing/annoying given the cost of the room.
I just expected better given that I was paying US$70 a night to stay there.
I checked out the next morning and moved to a hotel.
If you're going to stay in a shared dorm and pay between US$13-US$20 a night, then the hostel is fine, but it's not worth paying for a private room there which isn't that great.
