“Great Place to Stay in Palermo Viejo”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2011

We stayed at 1551 Palermo between Christmas and New Year and had a great stay. We were in the master suite which was spacious and lovely, with its own private terrace overlooking the pool. The Staff was very helpful and assisted us with restaurant reservations, cabs and things to do. The pool in the courtyard was a wonderful place to unwind after hitting the streets in the warm Buenos Aires summer. From the street the hotel is hard to recognize but once you're past the front door its somewhat of an oasis. The neighborhood is relatively quiet and not right in the middle of the restaurants and bars of Palermo Viejo, but we enjoyed the walks to and from the hotel. There are plenty of shops in the neighborhood to pick up wine and food for a repast on your terrace. The breakfast suited me with fresh juice, meat, cheese and pastries. I left my sunglasses behind in the hotel and they followed up with an e-mail to let me know and arrange so I could reclaim them. It's a small hotel with only a few rooms so you get personalized attention yet they are laid back and are not intrusive. We were very pleased with the place. We ended up spending a night at another Palermo hotel after missing a flight connection and ending up with an extra night in Buenos Aires (when the Palermo was fully booked). When we e-mailed them from the airport in El Calafate they tried to help us find alternate accommodations. The space we had at the 1551 Palermo was at least double what we had at the other Palermo hotel.

“We expected more, it was overpriced but cozy.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2011

We stayed at the hotel at the end of the year. The staff was friendly, the room was huge and airy, however it was the small things that they lacked, it was as if they had lost their passion.Breakfast could have been better- we were for instance served sour milk to our coffee. It was the little things, as not providing a hook for the towels in the bathroom so they did not dry and we only got one hand-towel and had to ask for toilet paper when we were out. We expected more. The pool was actually green because of a pipe-problem and they knew it, still they did not offer a discount.- we did choose the hotel in part because of the pool.

“Oasis in the city heart”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2011

We stayed with Palermo Suites both upon arrival in BA and prior to our departure. All up we enjoyed their hospitality for 5 days and nights.
Our whole experience there was delightful.
The hotel can be a little tricky to locate initaially, but once you are familiar with the area it's fine. The facade in secure and offers no indiacation of the tranquility and beauty hidden behind its large gate.
Once inside, the hotel is beautifully presented with high ceilings, soft furnishings, smiling staff and a garden oasis with cooling pool. The pool in BA's hot summer period is a true blessing, welcomed after periods of wandering in Palermo's many streets.
We took the Luxury Suite, which was indeed luxurious. A massive space with dual shower heads and basins and a large spa. The bedroom overlooks the garden and pool area. Along with a spacious patio, welcoming the morning sunshine and providing the perfect breakfast location.
Finally the staff were able to assist with our every request. Restaurants were booked, taxis and transfers arranged, advice on shopping and city site options provided. Special requests for golf options, spa appointments and seafood restaurants were all handled promptly and with a smile. Even the cleaning staff had a smile and a welcome 'ola' in the morning.

All in all this was a fantastic location for us to base ourselves while hanging in BA.

Thanks to all the staff.

“ABSOLUTELTY one of the most beatifully unique hotels I've ever had the pleasure to stay at. Stunning architecture!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 January 2011

Hotel 1551 is an oasis in BA, it's warmth and comfort make you feel right at home. The rooms are expansive, three times the size of the rooms at Craft. Staff are welcoming and helpful. I cannot make a stronger recommendation.

“Couldn't have been better!”

We arrived on a Sunday evening and found almost no evidence of the hotel from the closed-up street. We didn't know what to expect! When they buzzed us in we found a beautiful old house filled with stylish, cozy furnishings. Our room, the Garden Suite, was on the opposite side of the courtyard from the rest of the hotel. It was quiet, isolated, and romantic. The room was clean and wonderfully furnished - it felt like a private oasis. The breakfast was simple but delicious, with fresh squeezed orange juice, bread and preserves, yogurt and cereal, and meat and cheese. The staff was excellent in helping us make reservations and welcoming us, and when our airport transfer didn't arrive they called their own service and got us to the airport with 5 minutes to spare! We were in a wonderful location, which was buzzing when we emerged Monday morning, and were within walking distance of all of Palermo, and of the metro, allowing us to get anywhere we needed to. This hotel, and our experience in Palermo, was the highlight of our two-week trip to Brazil and Argentina.
