“Warm B&B in the best neighborhood”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2012

This B&B is really nice. It is not about luxury - the rooms, except one which is huge, are not too big, are very very simple without decoration, and are not particularly bright. It is about atmosphere. The place is quite cozy, with a nice small inner garden and scented plants, and a warm breakfast room. There is no noise at all in the rooms from the street (which is valuable in B.A.), but it seems that the rooms are not well isolated among themselves. However when we were there all guests were quite, and we didn't have any problem sleeping. The owner and the staff are quite helpful and careful. The breakfast is really good: we liked the fresh "medialunas" with "dulce de leche" on the side in particular. The neighborhood is the best to be in B.A.: lots of restaurants, bars, shops, nightlife, milongas, and historical streets as well. It's not close to the subway, this is a little drawback, however there are many buses (once one understands how to use them, they are really convenient) and taxis passing by. For all this, the price we got was really good.

Room Tip: One room is huge and on 2 floors. Otherwise, better the rooms in the inner garden.

“Just right”

Palermo Viejo B&B is a well situated, comfortable, stylish place. Staff is friendly and helpful, and will assist you in arranging transportation, making dinner reservations, orienting you to the city, suggesting places to visit, etc. Breakfast is healthy and delicious, particularly the fresh-squeezed o.j. Decor is hip and creative. Beds are comfortable. Restaurants and shops are within a few blocks. Owner Ariel Sonnenschein and his assistant Jonathan are bilingual and knowledgeable. We felt relaxed and at home during our 6 night stay.

“Cozy Retreat in Great Neighborhood: A Gem of a B & B!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2012

If you want luxury, look elsewhere, but if you want a cozy, comfortable and personalized experience, at a real bed and breakfast, with an attentive, helpful owner and staff, then consider Palmero Viejo B & B.

It's located on a side street, just off a busy street with bus lines and taxis aplenty, in the heart of Palermo. This is a middle to upper middle class neighborhood where the "real" people of Buenos Aires live. Unlike the perfection, sterility and institutional feeling of Recoleta, the streets of Palermo are full of life. Lots of restaurants, cafes, shops of all kinds, and throngs on weekend nights, give a vibrancy to Palermo that is lacking in Recoleta, for example.

Ariel, the owner/manager of Palermo Viejo, is most helpful in directing you to good restaurants or whatever else you may be looking for. His suggestions and tips are first-rate and he knows Buenos Aires well.

The rooms at Palermo Viejo are simple, basic and comfortable. There's free, fast Wi-Fi and air conditioning if you need it, lots of windows to open if you want fresh air and plenty of hot water at all hours. The breakfast is a nice continental one, with good coffee, croissants, bread, cereal, fresh fruit and yoghurt. One of the things I enjoy about B & B's is the opportunity to meet other fellow travellers at the breakfast table, to learn of their travel experiences. This is enhanced at Palermo VIejo as most seating is 'family style,' save for a few tables. I met some lovely, sophisticated people the days I stayed there, from all over the world, which was great fun.

All-in-all, I had a superior experience at Palermo Viejo and highly recommend it (if you can get in, as they're very popular!) Superb location, cozy lodgings, and friendly, helpful owner... what more could you want in this price range? Frankly, for the real traveller, it doesn't come much better, in any price range. Palermo Viejo B & B is a gem!

Room Tip: All the rooms are unique and good! Just go with the flow and you'll be fine.

“Charming B&B with extremely helpful staff”

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Palermo Viejo B&B - service was great, breakfasts were lovely, rooms were superb and I enjoyed having my own key as it made me feel like I was a local who lived in Buenos Aires. A special mention to Jonathan and Ariel who were extremely helpful during my stay. Ariel even came out one Saturday night to help me hail a taxi in the rain when he was told that the one that had been booked to take me to a tango show would not be coming as expected. I would definitely stay here again!

“Better than 5 star”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 December 2011

I traveled in south America for 2months ..a wonderful experience . I started and ended my trip at Ariels "home "...and he knows the meaning of Hospitality . Some of the so called 4/5 star hotels I stayed at in other places should spend some time with Ariel and learn few lessons about how to look after customers

Ariel and his staff give a full service ...advise on local transport .airport transfers ,banks, restaurants and organised a terrific day at a football match . He even arranged alternative accommodation for me for one night when he had a full house

The rooms are clean and functional . the breakfast is just right

It is located conveniently away from the bustle but close enough to good restaurants and buses

you wouldnt stay any where else!

Room Tip: The rooms towards back of house is preferred
