“We Loved Lina's Tango Guesthouse!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

We just returned home after spending eight wonderful nights at Lina's Tango Guesthouse....and like one of the other former guests who posted a review, it is difficult to come up with the words to express how much we enjoyed the experience. Lina and Lujan went out of their way to make us feel at home and help us navigate Buenos Aires. Our room was good sized and clean. The courtyard is like an oasis...a place to eat breakfast, meet other guests or just relax and read a book. When we arrived three of the five rooms were occupied by guests who had stayed there on previous trips to Buenos Aires...that should tell you something.
From our first e-mail contact to the hugs we exchanged as we boarded the cab for the airport, our experience with Lina and her team exceeded our expectations.

“beautiful friendly guesthouse in San Telmo”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 December 2011

My partner and I stayed here for 3 nights in December, what a lovely place! The room we had was clean and comfortable and really quiet, forgot we were in a big city! The courtyard was a lovely place to congregate at breakfast time and meet other travellers and learners of tango!Usually Lina or Lujan would join us for a chat and provide us with suggestions/ information about the city.
There is a kitchen available for guest use and the use of a washing machine was a surprising and welcome additional item. Tango lessons would take place in the afternoons - while we were not wanting to take tango lessons, can certainly see the appeal!

“My favourite guest experience - ever!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 December 2011

It took me awhile to write this because I couldn’t find the words to say how much I enjoyed my stay here. Lina’s Tango Guesthouse is really something special. You arrive as guests and leave as friends.
The guesthouse itself is lovely. Hiding behind an unassuming entrance (no sign) is a warm and welcoming space. The bedrooms are comfortable and quiet (when there are no parties and when there are, why would you not join the revellers?) The bedrooms surround an inviting courtyard that lends itself well to daily socializing and impromptu parties. It is filled with light and birdsong and encourages guests to linger and chat. On this visit I made several new friends among the other guests including a group of woman who plan to return at the same time next year for a reunion. Many of the guests are repeat visitors for several years.
The staff are amazing. Lina herself is a gracious and lovely hostess who shares her time freely with the guests and will often invite guests to join her on an outing – frequently to a local Milonga. She also teaches tai chi on two days a week (an instructor comes on the third). Lujan is the “fount of all wisdom”. I never asked Lujan a question she couldn’t answer or made a request she couldn’t accommodate. She remains cheerful and friendly despite being bombarded by requests from the guests. She also runs her own business – BA design tours - and I did two of her very unique and interesting tours during my stay there (separate review available). Finally, there is Gloria! Gloria is perfect. Always sweet, always ready to fulfill a request, always smiling and makes medialuna’s to die for. They have been mentioned in other posts and definitely live up to their hype. Gloria keeps the place spic and span and does an amazing job.
So let’s talk about tango! You dance tango, or you want to learn to dance tango, there are two amazing instructors that work through Lina’s. Walter deserves a page of his own. He has worked extensively with tango maestro, Susana Miller, and is wonderful at bringing the dance down to the basics – understanding your body, understanding the connection, learning to relax and listen to your partner-and building from that very solid platform. Walter was able to break through my self-created barriers and the lessons have held upon my return home. Walter is incredibly busy teaching and all through word of mouth references. Guri also teaches through Lina’s and comes from the school of Cacho Dante. He emphasizes “heart to heart” connection and technique and with Guri, my walk, my feet and my ability to follow with “no hands” left me feeling much more confident about my ability to follow any partner.
This is a long review but I wanted to ensure I mentioned everyone. This is absolutely my favourite place I have every stayed. Thanks to all of you. I will definitely see you next year.

“Lina's is like finding your way home...plus tango!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 November 2011

We just returned from 2+ wks in Argentina, finishing with 5 days at Lina's. We are not tango people, just wanted to nibble around the edges and try it, and Lina, her friends, and our fellow guests made us feel so welcome, so much at home, as well as comfortable about joining them at a milonga and setting up a private lesson with the incredibly kind and patient Walter. San Telmo location was ideal, a reasonable walk to the Independencia subte stop, and just a few blocks from all the life on Plaza Dorrego, it worked out fine. We had the front ground floor room with two beds pushed together and a private bathroom, facing the street. Very comfortable, and with the heavy duty blinds it's quiet enough, definitely. Plenty of hot water, great water pressure.

Office manager Lujan is an amazing plus, did I want a bike tour? historic tour? tango lessons? boarding passes? whatever it was, Lujan was there for us, and so kind and sweet. Gloria makes the best medialunas we had on our whole trip, made breakfast worth waiting til 9am for. It's very nice to have kitchen access, plus there's a washing machine if you need it (small charge). But the magical courtyard brings everyone together -- late afternoon wine, early morning tourist launch, it's a good place to just be. And for us, to take our tango lessons. We would definitely return to Lina's.

“We definitely get back to this excellent place!!”

An authentic place just like home , in the heart of Buenos Aires!!Clean, friendly and most of all with a lot a lot of Argentian spirit and culture:The owner a real Argentinian she is excellent, Lujan the receptionist just lovely and Gloria helpful.
We ve booked the smallest room of the guest house for 4 day with shared bathrooms, Lina the owner decided to give us the biggest for the same price. A gesture that we ve appreciate a lot after 13 hours of flyring.
The breakfast is well prepared, the patio is just authentic and the colours bring you back to the real Argentina. A place that we definitely go back.
The house us very well located near everything , in the heart of San Telmo, just 2 minutes walk from the main square-and with the bus you can do everything!!!!!LOVE IT

Room Tip: Get the one with private bathroom
