“Nice little gem”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2011

La Otra Orilla is a beautiful hidden gem almost in the heart of Palermo and it's amazing restaurants and shopping scene. We found this place through a friend who thoroughly recommended it and I am very glad we took her advice and booked our stay there.

The place used to be a family home and was then transformed into a B&B. Everything about the house is great, from the well kept rooms to the lovely breakfast and outdoor area.

The staff is also very friendly and speaks good english. Get them to give you a hand with booking restaurants and recommending places to go.

Overall I would recommend La Otra Orilla to a friend without hesitation.

“Amazing!!!”

Lovely hostel/B&B located in super trendy Palermo. It's a charming european-inspired building with a gorgeous courtyard, quaint lobby and cute and spacious rooms. I stayed in the smallest room, the White Room, and it was perfect for the single traveller. The bed way comfy, it had a large closet to spread out all my back-packed clothes and a little desk/chair. The bathroom is shared, but kept super clean. They also provide you with large fluffy white towels.

Breakfast is fantastic, especially in comparison with other hostels. It's served in this charming breakfast room and includes bread, medialunas, yogurt, cereal, fresh fruit, cheese and ham, coffee/tea, dulce de leche and jams.

Staff are amazing. They are so helpful and very friendly.

There is no doubt that I would stay here again on my next trip to Buenos Aires.

“Great B&B for an affordable price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 October 2010

I stayed here for 5 days while traveling solo in South America. I chose the "Blue" room, which has two twin beds and a bathroom shared with one other person. Since I was solo this was a great setup for me and very reasonable at $55/night.

The hotel staff was super-friendly and helpful, and one of the things I appreciated was that they control entry to the hotel 24/7. Since there are only 7 rooms, they know all their customers personally, which means someone can't just walk in off the street and so you can safely leave things in your room, or in the safe at the front desk, without worrying too much. The hotel is also clean and they're prompt about any requests you make of them.

Breakfast every morning is at a big table in their dining room, and there's an adjoining patio if you'd like to sit outside. The breakfast was substantial and a welcome start to the day.

The area around the hotel is safe and very active. There are tons of restaurants, cafes, and bars within walking distance, and it's easy to get down to the metro ("subte") for a ride into the city center. I walked from the hotel over to the cemetery in la Recoleta, which was a great walk. If you do this make sure you cut through the park that borders Palermo and Recoleta, it's an amazing sight (and sound!) filled with probably a couple hundred dogs and their dog-walkers.

I'd gladly stay here again, and if you're looking for a b&b I would absolutely recommend to others that they stay here.

“the prefect place in Palermo Viejo”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 February 2010

A fantastic old house in the art of Palermo Viejo. A pretty nice patio to relax. A few rooms (with private bathroom or not) very well decorated with colored walls and simple furniture.
It is absolutly delightful. Atmosphere between modern Buenos Aires and a old British coutryside B&B. Excellent breakfasts.
The violet room (double with private bathroom) is cosy: my favourite one!
If you travel alone , the single one is tiny but pretty charming as well.
The shared bathroom is very clean and nice.
Plenty of charm.
You can deal price if you pay cash.

“Excellent location and value; helpful staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2010

This place was a steal - great price and helpful staff. Everyone should plan to stay in Palermo when in Buenos Aires, and this places makes that possible for even people on a budget. You get what you pay for - don't expect the Four Seasons - but the rooms are nice and clean and there is an excellent selection of books for borrowing. If you can live without a TV then this is an excellent option. The best parts of budget travel (cheap room) without the sacrifices (dirt, noise, heat and insects!)
