This is adverised as an Apartment/Suites hotel but is really just a Bed and Breakfast base. It has a most unpreposeesing external appearance and old fashioned decor in the lobby, but the rooms are fully adequate with a good well serviced bathroom, and a good clean bedroom. But the rooms at the front are subject to extensive traffic noise, and a night club opposite is open till about 4 a.m., so the sleep quality is poor (I don't know what the rooms at the back are like.Cable Television in the room had no English language channels. Internet-enabled computers for guest use were INCREDIBLY SLOW . But it is ideally located for all facilities - pedestian area, shops, buses and the metro just a couple of blocks away. Within easy reach of the harbour for ferries to Uruguay, and for the Costanera Sur reserve. Good for nightlife

This hotel is great value for money. The rooms are equipped with kitchens but no pots to cook with so thats a waste of time, but who needs to cook when there are so many good restaurants nearby (try the nearby shopping mall for cheap and tasty food). The staff are cant speak any English so that makes things difficult, especially as my bag was stolen and the reception staff could not assist me in getting to the tourist police. The location is very central. Only fault with this place is the breakfast which is terrible and uneatable.

Me and wife visited the Catalinas Suites Apart Hotel in 313 Tucuman st. Buenos Aires during our short south america trip.
we stayed at the hotel for 6 days (5 nights) and the only thing that is in favour for this hotel is its location. A distance walk from Av. Florida, the obelisco, Puerto Madero and Killkenny bar. Other than that, it was a bad decision.
I'll start with the rooms, which are really old and not welcoming. we had to change a room because the shower tap, once i've tried to turn it, remained in my hands. i'll continue with the air conditioning. its not there. Buenos Aires in march is hot and it gets even hotter during summer times. Apparently, the switch for the air conditioning is being control from the reception downstairs and they stop it all the time ("Other guests requested it to be stopped" - yeah right!!!) and i found myself fighting with the reception every single time that i came back to my room, trying to get them to turn it on. and even when it was turned on, you felt the coolness after an hour or so. i'll finish off with the breakfast which was very poor!!!
ahh, i forgot, the internet wasn't free and you have to pay for it where a few blocks away you can use internet for 2 pesos an hour.
The price for couple for 1 night was: 65$.
To summ things up: there are a lot of other hotels in that area of the center of Buenos Aires which i think will be a better choice so don't go to this one.

good things about the Catalinas Suites...wi-fi does actually work in the room (4 bars even). excellent hot water. nice beds. central location.

bad things about the Catalinas...kitchenettes didn't have any cooking utensils, nor microwave. only working fridge is the empty honor bar, on the other side of the room. rain leaking into room, saturating two spots in the carpet. most pics on the website are deceiving. luckily, only paid $70 US a night...otherwise, the rack rate of $160 would be sheer extortion.
