Buenos Aires. Waldorf Hotel. Calle Paraguay 450. My family – father (83), mother (69), aunt (79), son and I – stayed at the Waldorf Hotel from October 29 to November 3, 2010.
The Hotel doesn’t provide any information or even brochures on the most basic tourist attractions in town and has a single computer for the clients’ use, to which, of course, there’s always a huge waiting line. To make matters worse, it doesn’t provide safes in the rooms, but only at the reception desk, always crowded.
My aging mother, unfortunately, forgot most of her money – 2000US$, 700 pesos (Argentine currency) and 300 reais (Brazilian currency) – in a black waist bag (a pochette) under the white pillow on her bed. We left the hotel at lunch time and were gone under three hours. Meanwhile, the room was cleaned “and the money too”. Hotel staff claimed it could have been washed away with the bed clothes, in spite of the difference between the color of the bag and the color of the clothes. The money was never retrieved and the Hotel didn’t even have the courtesy of offering us another stay in the future to make amends.
Upon our return to Brazil, we contacted our tourist agent and the Hotel manager promised they would offer us a stay to make up for the theft. That was over a month ago…
So, I strongly recommend that you avoid staying at the Waldorf when you go to Buenos Aires.

Dear Ms. Fattini,
Thank you very much for your opinion.
We would like to make some comments about what happened. After your complaint, the General Manager was deeply involved in the problem and also you and the Housekeeper checked the maid, her office and the laundry room and nothing appeared. There is no proof that the money was in the room in the first place and there is also a possibility that the money was lost in another place.
As you know, hotel does not take responsibility for any money left in the room, as a safe box is available at the front desk and can be used free of charge.
We are really sorry about your comment because we tried to do our best.
Best regards,
Waldorf Hotel
