“Rooms Need to be refreshed”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 November 2011

The Abasto has seen better days. The beds and bedspeads need to be replaced . The decoration if you can call it that needs a major upgrade. Some of the staff are nice while others are totally conceited. Don't be fooled by the nice lobby it has nothing to do with the depressing rooms. An average hotel at an average price, not well situated except for the Gardel museum, la esquina Carlos Gardel or Abasto Shopping. The neighbourhood can get pretty funky.

Room Tip: Some floors are non smoking

“Hard to spent one night”

We spent only one night at this place. It`s nothing like the pictures on internet. We arrived late at night and left as soon as the sunrised!!! I read other reviews and can`t even imagine better rooms... Anyway, Baires is plenty of good deals hotels at much better areas. Wouldn`t recomend it! The room was very old, dirt and smelling smook.

“It is good”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 August 2011

I was in this hotel for business by January this year. Room was spacious and comfortable but the room view was to next building roof. I couldn try the tango lessons offered on the hotel but seems to be there are many people that goes there to stay in a thematic room and learn to dance tango. Hotel has a nice solarium and food is good, specially the argentinians empanadas served at breakfast. Hotel is allocated along famous Corrientes avenue and there is a subway station just one block away. You can walk down corrientes avenue up to the very down town, in just 25 minutes you will be at Av. 9 de Julio. I would say it is a good hotel to stay

“the staff is the problem...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 July 2011

The building is good, the bedroom was big and clean.
It's not well located, but it's near a metro station and the taxis are cheap. There is a good shopping mall in front of it.

The problem is the staff.
With few exceptions, they didn't give us the attention and help we needed.

For example, I asked for a bottle of water (as they didn't fill the frigobar that day) and it was difficult! The man on the front desk told me to ask at the restaurant, and there, they told me to ask at other place...

A woman's purse was stolen at the hotel's hall moments before she go to the airport and the staff was apathetic.

There was a manu at the room with price of food and beverages. I thought they included the price of the beverages of the frigobar. But no! At the check out I discovered that the prices were differente, that was the menu of the restaurant, the prices of the frigobar were higher! So, if you go there, ask for beverages on the phone, they will be cheaper... They told that there was a menu at the frigobar`s door, but I didn't see it. Maybe it was inside...

And they didn't give me an message that the transfer guy send me.

“wonderful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 May 2011

My mother and I were flying in a couple days early before our cruise and we were just looking for nice, inexpensive hotel to stay at. Imagine our surprise when we arrived, what a wonderful hotel, very clean, not at all what I expected. The staff are wonderful and very helpful, we wanted to take in a Tango show and they were able to find us one at the last minute, he even walked us over to the show, which was several blocks away, and said he would be back after the show to walk us home. To me that goes above and beyond what is expected and small things like that make a stay wonderful. I will definitely will be back.
