We stayed at this hotel for 10 nights when we came for some work and a conference. Our host booked it for us as it was 3 blocks away from her home. They first put us in room 1406 which was directly across from the elevator - this room must have been a designated smoking room because it was pretty musty - we requested a room change and we got moved to room 1410. Room 1410 is a two bedroom with two bathroom and kitchen (crazily enough, it's about the size of our condo back home :)
The room is not luxurious by any means, but we found our bed to be very comfortable. When I looked at the bed, I didn't have great expectations, but the mattress was surprisingly soft and supportive. Yes, the bathrooms aren't big, but we thought given the heavy European influence in Buenos Aires, we didn't expect big bathrooms (we have had MUCH smaller!). Our room was very clean, the sheets were crisp and clean, the towels were very good quality. The furniture in the living room was VERY basic, but we didn't plan to stay around the hotel that much so for the few hours we spent on the couch, it was completely adequate (we were too busy having amazing dinners and going to tangos).
The breakfast was also pretty basic, eggs, sausage, bread for toast, ham, cheese, cereals, croissants. They had these scones with sugar on top that were amazingly delicious - I'm not a cookie person, but I had to have one of these every day - loved them! We discovered about halfway through our trip that we could order cappuccinos and they would just put them on our room bill, they were awesome. The food was definitely of good quality, just not as exciting after 10 days of it, but we were happy.
The location is excellent! Our host gave us a tour of the neighborhood the first day we were there and pointed out all of her favorite restaurants, plus her favorite shopping areas. We had the most amazing dinners - the restaurant Rio Alba was fantastic and just one block away, in addition to their great meats, we had delicious arugula salads. We were also 3 blocks from the Palermo park and were there 5 times running in the morning, that was fabulous!
We found everyone at the hotel to be very friendly, seeing them in the hallways, at the front desk, getting directions, currency exchange etc. We found people in Buenos Aires, in general, to be exceptionally friendly. People commented on feelings of safety at this hotel. We felt completely safe - they have signs posted about putting your valuables in a safe which they provide in the room and at the front desk. We felt that our property and ourselves were very safe. We weren't overly fond of Santa Fey avenue and our street for those few blocks, but otherwise felt very good in our neighborhood.
People commented on the elevators - they do have 4 elevators and if there is a conference on at the hotel, you can wait quite a while for the elevator. Yes, the elevators are small, but that size is very typical outside of north america.
We used the Sauna on the second last day which was amazing, and also booked an hour massage in the spa, it was fantastic, the kind young lady worked out all of my knots in my back - totally worth it! I wish we could have gone for 2 hours each :)
We would go back, and definitely get our room 1410 again.
