“Great location, good value”

We booked a one-bedroom apartment (junior suite) through Buenos Aires Habitat at the Suipacha Suites Hotel for one week in early March. The apartment is owned by an individual but receives all the services of the hotel (room service, daily maid service, concierge, etc.). My neice, booked an additional junior suite for herself through the hotel website. It was part of the regular hotel-owned accomodations. Both suites were comfortable, well-furnished, very clean and had wonderful beds and bedding. The baths and small kitchens were tiled and modern.

The location of the hotel between Florida Street and Reccoleta and one block off the main avenue was most convenient. There were three grocery stores within 1/2 block of the hotel. The desk staff spoke excellent English, were friendly, and helpful. The hotel restaurant had wonderful food at very low prices. My husband enjoyed his steak lunch as much as anything he ate in Buenos Aires.

The price of the junior suite booked through the hotel was $87.00 per night. Our apartment booked through Buenos Aires Habitat was $450.00 for the week. Our security deposit was efficiently refunded the day we left.

“Great Location, Great Price, Decent Rooms”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 May 2005

We stayed for about a week in early May, 2005. It was recommended to us by an Argentine friend of a friend here in the U.S. I was a bit concerned because of the other feedback I had seen on this website, but still went there. I was pleasantly surpised that it was actually a nice little hotel for the price. The location was great - walking distance from Calle Florida, the Obelisco, the Casa Rosada, etc., and with a bit longer walk you can get to the Recoleta area (20 min.?). The room we had was clean and comfortable - although the bathroom was teensy. The room had a kitchenette. Try to get a room with a balcony like we did (we got a free upgrade!), which makes it nice for sitting out and having a glass of wine to wind down after sightseeing all day. We didn't have a noise problem at all, perhaps because we were on the 10th floor. But no noise from adjoining rooms. The included breakfast went until 11am, which is good for that occasional late morning start. They had pastries (media lunas and more), toast, dulce de leche, marmalade, eggs and bacon, fruit, yoghurt, and of course coffee, tea and juice. They even let us have breakfast the morning we arrived while we waited 1/2 hr for our room to be ready. They let us into it at 11am, even though check-in is at noon. And their front desk was very helpful. Also, there is a computer in the lobby so you can go online if you wish.

“Hated it!”

Nice location, very central. The rooms are not very clean, its noisy from other rooms, service is awful. We were waiting for tickets to a day trip and checked w/the front desk every day, they claimed never to recieve them - we went back to the American Express office and they called and stayed on the phone w/them until they located the tickets. Very frustrating.

“Suipacha Suites...a dump”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 March 2005

Suipacha Suites is an awful hotel. We went to the hotel to look at rooms prior to making reservations. We were shown the junior suites, which although dated were clean and seemed suitable. There were three of us traveling so we decided on booking two of the junior suites. When we arrived and checked in, we received completely different rooms. These rooms were filthy and disgusting. The wallpaper was coming off the walls in the rooms. The air conditioning did not work in either of the rooms. There were suspicious hairs in one of the “fresh” set of sheets on one of the beds. There were bugs in the shower. The toilet did not flush in one of the rooms. Parts of the walls must have had water damage and were rotting off. Last but not least the pool, which was the main reason we decided to stay at the hotel had about an inch of filthy water in it although the day before the pool had been completely full. We spoke to a woman at the front desk who apologized profusely and said that she would move us into much nicer rooms. She told us to go out and enjoy the afternoon and when we returned our bags would be moved into our new rooms. About two hours we returned to the hotel. The shift had changed at that point so there were new faces behind the front desk. They had not switched our room and had no knowledge of it. We argued to deaf ears. We held our breath and stayed in the rooms that night. We promptly checked out the next morning and stayed the remaining two-weeks at the Loi Suites Arenales, a sweet little hotel, which I will review at a later point. There are much better hotels in this area with a similar price point including the Suipacha y Arroyo, Argenta Towers and Loi Suites Arenales. Don’t waste your time on this one.
