I stayed here on my first visit to BsAs. On my 5 subsequent visits, I stayed elsewhere. I prefer the kind of hotel room where you can walk into and do not have to climb over the bed because the single suitcase has taken up all the floor space.

The location and shower were great, but it was very, VERY dirty and noisy. I don't recommend

Some friends and I decided to spend 8 days at Argentina having fun, our idea was to find a hotel in a decent location from where we could explore this amazing city and we were looking for a fair price. My friend found a travel agency that offered a package with flight and stay included, well we went for it without checking references for the hotel, bad idea.

ARRIVAL: When we got there the location kind of scared us, the street is narrow and the buildings look abandoned, we were lucky it was near to Avenue 9 de Julio, Buenos Aires' main avenue, so it was easy to get taxis and run from that creepy alley. The room was ready when we arrived, so we went straight up.

HOTEL/CONCIERGE: The hotel is kind of scary, the elevator is really old and noisy and the halls are dark. The doors don't really lock and you have to force them to open and close, we were lucky to get a room that was kind of a "suite" with a small sitting area and a balcony, so we saw the street and some of the city out there to the left, since we were on the third floor. I pity whoever has to stay at the other rooms that are smaller and have almost none natural light.The "concierge" service was even kind of helpful, the hotel infra structure was what ruined it all.

STAFF/SERVICE: The staff tried to be helpful, they appeared to be friendly but there wasn't much to fix, even the breakfast was a disaster. I've been to bad hotels but this is among the worse. They also had horrible bathrooms, small and dirty, they didn't really care I think.

LOCATION: Although the street was kind of scary it was close to the subway and near the main avenue of Buenos Aires, so we had a decent location and public transportation nearby. A few landmarks were near as well.

OVERALL IMPRESSION: Please do avoid this hotel, it is old and dirty, doesn't look safe and the restaurant service is terrible. It is far from the business district and I'd advice families visiting Buenos Aires to stay at the Recoleta or at Puerto Madero, there is no advantage in staying near to the city center. If you are brave enough to stay at the "Gran" Hotel de la Paix go ahead, but just take it if it's absolutely your only option.
