“Don't waste you money”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 January 2012

We were booked into the NH City Hotel by Azamara cruises for a post cruise stay of three nights. Unfortunately, on our itinerary, they listed the hotel as the NH City & Tower Hotel, not the NH City. They are two different hotels next door to each other, with the City Hotel being of far lesser quality than the Tower. As you walk in you are confronted with a dirty stained carpet in the main lobby. The room we were orignally give was like a dungeon, We requested a room change right away and were given a better room. The bed was as hard as a rock and the floors were not too clean. The same clump of hair that was present next to the sink when we checked in was still there when we checked out. Although the location was a good one for daytime, rght around the corner from Plaza de Mayo, It really wasn't safe to be out at night there. Another guest had been mugged right in front of the door the night before we arrived. He was injured and couldn't walk, and had his Rolex stolen off of his hand. The front desk personnel never cracked a smile and acted as if they were doing you a favor even speaking with you. My advice is not to patronize this hotel

“Look for alternatives....”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2012

I ended up in this hotel for not having the time to choose a place by myself. It hasn'nt been the best choice for sure, to say it it politely!
The restaurant (basement) is a joke and if want to have a drink in the lobby, you better bring your own before risking to dry out.
My room was clean, but the bedcover and armchair made me shiver, they were full of stains.
The 3 (!) telephones in my room and bathroom were blinking constantly, informing me of messages waiting, but there was no way of getting this misterious message or to stop the ferocious blinking. Trying to find sleep, I had the choice of a noisy turbo air conditioning that even made me shiver on 'low' speed, or else open the window and be stressed by several turbines that roar all night from below. I'll won't come back here on my own choice.

Room Tip: You want a good room? Choose another Hotel.

“Very disappointing and over priced!”

Had one more night back in BA after a couple of nights exploring elsewhere (and post staying in a lovely place in Palermo before that) and thought that a modern city hotel might be a good option. Couldn't have been more wrong! When we walked into the lobby, it looked nice and there were plenty of staff etc. One of the reasons I'd booked was the rooftop pool shown in the website, but I was really disappointed to hear that it was closed and not open until summer (I was there in late Nov and it was 28 degrees people!!). In any case, I went up to have a look at the pool and gym and they were in a fairly sorry state! Even on the way to the room, it was clear the decor is very dated - the chips showing clearly on the too darkly stained wood work. And as for the room, it was tiny. I mean barely large enough for two to stand up in - honestly I've never had a hotel room so small. And it looked like a 1970s dorm room, with a really old looking orange bed spread and a huge TV! The bathroom was quite large in comparison, but the tap sprayed water everywhere. Good job I had to get up early for a flight as the workmen started drilling in the street outside the room at 7am. Free internet and average breakfast the only mild positives. Seriously overpriced.

“Don't do it!”

A very poor hotel, with a very poor level of staff.
You will find plenty of better hotels for the same price in the capital.

Room Tip: Go to another hotel.

“Not suited for business travellers - terrible sleep quality”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 December 2011

I am usually not too harsh or negative on reviews but this time, I feel having to share and describe my experience at that hotel.

The room was actually OK and the location appeared to be central.

My main complain however, was an extremely loud banging noise at, what appeared, directly next to my room. This noise started at around 10pm and lasted all throughout the night until 4am, when I had to get up to catch a flight.

At one point, I called the front desk in the middle of the night to make them aware of it and they promised to send someone up to check. After that call, the banging stopped for about 30 minutes but started again thereafter.

I am not one to complain quickly but this noise was extremely loud and it felt as someone would demolish the room next door. I never figured out what that noise was but it surely kept me from sleeping.

In addition to the extreme noise, the A/C was more of an annoyance than help. It was quite noisy (though still tolerable) and blew a consistent straight air stream strongly right on to the bed regardless of the temperature in the room. I had to turn off the A/C to stop that draft and to prevent the room from cooling too much, which resulted quickly into a hot room. Either way, it was quite uncomfortable and should not happen at a hotel at that price tag.

The only reason, why I still rate this hotel as Poor and not Terrible is the staff. They were friendly at all times, tried to help out and spoke excellent English.

Bottom line: I would definitely not stay at that hotel again and will not recommend this hotel to my colleagues for future travel. Having stayed in BA a few times, there are plentiful better and cheaper options available. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.
