Great location in Buenos Aires close to a bunch of restaurants, shopping, bus lines, etc. Desk staff was super nice. Definitely does need to be remodeled, but it's fine if you're not staying in your room all day. Our A/C unit was pretty weak, and couldn't even keep up when it was only about 85 F outside. Also the bakery on the way to Cordoba is really yummy and has some of the best empanadas we had in South America.

After staying at the Waldorf as part of an organized tour, my travelmate and I checked in the Posta Carretas. This is quite a gem - it is very well located between two major streets. Everything interesting is within walking distance. Quite a lot of restaurants and small groceries around. Despite being so centrally located, the room was reasonably quiet, although small.. In fact, the majority of the noise came from neighboring room rather than from the outside. The lobby is like an oasis. The breakfast was very nice with a very attractive selection of pastries and fresh fruit. The front desk spoke very good English and were very friendly. This was a good bargain!

My friend and I stayed here from Dec 8 through Dec 11 and enjoyed it very much. As the other reviewers will say it is a bit outdated but still loaded with charm. We had a room on the street on the 6th floor and had no problem with the noise. The a/c works albiet it is old so not great but sufficient. The bedding is good, the beds could be better...they should put a foam topper on them and it would be great! It was roomy, the bathroom large and a great shower with a jacuzzi jetted tub!

The hotel is in the heart of it all...we considered the Recoleta district as well as Palermo district but visited them easily. We used the subway system which was great $1.10 pesos or free most of the time and cabs are very cheap as well. The restaurants in the Recoleta district (higher end) were more than double of the ones in the MetroCenter district and they were fabulous...for less than $100 pesos (25$) you could have a full wonderful mean and a whole bottle of wine, plus dessert!

I would stay at the hotel again...free breakfast every day until 10:30 but a couple of times we just called and ordered coffee and for $15 pesos they would bring coffee, orange juice & delicious homemade croissants!

Excellent location on Esmeralda. We had a junior suite which was spacious. Only problem the air conditioning - it did not work. in the end we slept in another room which was fine as we did not want the hassle of having to pack and uppack our cases again. Buffet breakfast with excellent cakes. Staff very helpful - made bookings and arranged cabs for us. Tango shows at Senor Tango and La Ventana are a must.
