“A bit old but ok”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 March 2011

The hotel is old but it is ok. The room is big, it has airconditioning, cable tv and wireless free internet (at least on the 2nd floor). The reception staff is nice and helpful. The breakfast is acceptable (the variety is poor but the quality is ok). The gym is not usable (at least during the time i've been there). The location is very good: it is located in the downtown of Buenos Aires between the Cordoba and Corrientes avenues. Corrientes has lots of bars and restaurants where you can go by walking. You can get metro (it is called "Subte") on Cordoba av. 4 blocks away from the hotel. The "9 de Julio" av. is 3 blocks away and the obelisk is 5 blocks away. You can go by walking even to Recoleta cemetery (Where Evita Peron) is buried), which is 10 blocks away.

“MayFlower Suites- Surprisingly Good Experience Given Poor Reviews”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 February 2010

I felt it was important to do a review on this hotel as the recent ones were so poor. My husband and I were very surprised as when we arrived, we had friendly service, a good clean and comfortable room and while we had to walk a bit to get to the main shopping area on Florida Street, we had no issues with the hotel. The room was bright, we had good air conditioning, the breakfast was decent (cold cuts, fruit salad, cheese, croissants, bread (including whole wheat!), pastries and DECENT coffee). The only thing that was spotty was wi-fi access in our room so we had to go to the front reception area to do our e-mail and internet access which they fixed by end of our stay. There was the occasional elevator problem but they were always quickly fixed. I put good value because we booked this with Delta SkyMiles points and it also asked for the lowest number of sky miles points so we could book for 3 nights. The front desk spoke English well and we even were able to have a late checkout without any hassle(2pm) so we could take a shower before heading off to the airport to catch our flight home. The room also had a large safe for our valuables. I truly am baffled on the poor reviews because I felt that I stayed at a different hotel than what was described in other recent reviews. As we did not pay money for the hotel I can't truly comment on the value for what other's received but we really did enjoy our stay here and would recommend it to our friends if they got a good deal on this hotel or could do it using rewards points.

P.S. Just as a note, Argentinian typical breakfast in the hotels consist mostly of croissants/toast, bad coffee and orange juice(sometimes it was orange pop). We always appreciated the hotels which served a more european breakfast(cold cuts, cereal, fruit salad, pastries, juice) to cater to the tourists. So for those who complain about the breakfasts in general should do some research on what a typical breakfast is in the country they visit.

“Do not spend your money in this hotel”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 January 2010

I stayed in this hotel one night only, because I was in transit to Ushuaia. This hotel is terrible, I think it does not have any maintenance since 70's. The walls were moldy and it smells badly.

“Find Somewhere Else”

Our room hadn't been touched since the 1960's. If the t.v. had worked, it probably would have been a black and white one. The pillow cases and bedding had stains on, the curtains and holes in, the light fittings were hanging off the wall. The bed sheets were dark brown and woolen which we took off and my wife slept in her travelling clothes and we didn't shower for fear that the mould around the bath would contaminate us. The toilet seat had lumps missing out of it and the paint? was coming off the seat too. Stay away. The staff were pleasant enough though.

“Cheap but u get what u pay for...”

As previous visitors mentioned, The location is great. The rooms are big although a bit old, the bathrooms are quite nice and the two guys Borats at the front desk are quite nice, that being said, the place is old, not renovated at all, the gym has been closed for months, the AC did not work, the internet was very intermitent, eccept in th lobby where itr works fine, the breakfast consist of a few pastries, OJ and cofee/tea. The service always took for ever, only one maid in the whole place. And we got bit by mosquitos because we had to leave the windows open all the time for frech air.
