The first thing that impressed us was although check-in was at 3pm, we arrived at 9:30am and our room was ready immediately. The hotel is an easy location to tour BA from and the staff were excellent and very helpful. The pool was small but made a nice relaxation point at the end of a day's sightseeing and is open from 10-6 Tuesday to Sunday. The room was very nicely decorated and modern and the buffet breakfast set us up nicely for the day. Some aspects of the hotel could do with small lick of paint but this is very minor. All in all a very pleasant base for our 5 days touring BA. The only thing I would say is that our room suffered from street noise, but we didn't asked to be moved as we were generally so tired at the end of the day, that it made little difference.

Though aging, this hotel is a gem, tucked away in the heart of town. The common areas are very attractively turned out, and the rooms are similarly attractive, comfortable. The breakfast buffet is not outstanding, but is good. The staff is what sets this hotel apart; they are superlative. We had an emergency need to resolve an issue with Mastercard, and with a credit union in the states, and they jumped through hoops to make the happy resolution both possible and rapid. Two negatives: the pool hours are not aimed to engage the guests, and the elevators and hallway carpets are tired. Very tired.

Stayed here for three nights and had a 9th floor suite with jacussi and over-bath shower, for the price of a standard room on the lower floors. No view to mention but no noise either. The room was cleaned and furnished to a high standard and we had no complaints in this respect.
Breakfast was more than adequate and again the dining area was well looked after. Some of the public areas of the hotel were starting to get a bit dilapidated but retained an olde worlde charm.
Location was excellent with Florida Street literally across the road and I would undoubtedly stay here again.

We stayed at the Elevage for a tour. It is very European in style of the rooms (read small) but packed with emenities. The best is free wireless and internet access! The breakfast is freshed and cooked on site--no powdered eggs or fake food here. The staff is friendly (and cute) and very helpful. Only negative is the elevators only will hold two or three people at a time. But take the stairs if you are in a hurry. This is a great hotel, don't miss it!
