“Good Location, Delightful Service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 December 2008

Centrally located, easy walking to shopping and site-seeing.
It is in the city so you do get street noises if you windows face the street.

All of the staff were very welcoming, friendly, and polite. Willing to help even if they were 'off-duty,' as we found when our remi (hired car) came to pick us up and our luggage was at the lobby desk, the gentleman who checked it in was already changed out of his uniform, but kindly waved us down and showed us our bags and even helped put them in the car.

If you're looking for a comfortable place to sleep that is convenient, this is a good option. I agree that the bathrooms and decor are dated, but I was in Buenos Aires to enjoy the city, culture and dining, not entertain in my room.

We arrived on 07/18/2008, registered fast and saw the pityful room. Old furniture and very small room, the bathroom too.
It is very well located and quiet for us surprise, the breakfast was well sorted and the coffee was just right.

We were with a group tour that booked us in the Tritone, so we didn't have a choice. We wish we did. Rooms had old furnishings, were not very clean and very noisy -- walls were thin and street noise was incessant. Breakfasts were not bad, as others have noted. But there are many better choices in Buenos Aires -- pick somewhere else and have a better time.

“OK - if you know what you're getting into”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 May 2008

so i just got back from my trip to buenos aires. it was a lot of fun and i wanted to give feedback on my stay.

fyi: i booked 2 nights here on travelres.com (and it was reliable with good customer service) and 2 nights through latinamerica4less.com

also, i am 29 years old with lots of travel experience and went with a friend of mine from work for a vacation.

we arrived to the hotel around 10:30 am. they had our room available even though check-in is officially at 3 pm or so. i booked for two beds and they had 3 twins (which is fine since many rooms have twins). because of the 3 beds, it was reasonably spacious. the sheets and comfortors were ok. there was a small tv, which was fine. there was a wall unit A/C which cooled the room adequately (although the temp outside was 60s to 70s during the day and 50s to 60s at night). there was a minibar (which is cheap relative to anyplace in the us).

the bathroom was the worst part. there were cracks in the finish of the sink. the towels were not white anymore and quite threadbare with or without holes. there was no venilation in the bathroom, so it smelled kinda dingy.

didn't really have much breakfast, except for the last day, which was pretty good. juice/coffee/tea. continental breakfast things. also some eggs and sausage.

having internet in the lobby was a nice bonus (although depending on the time of day, you may have to wait).

overall, it was fine if you know what you'regetting into. i think for budget travellers (but not quite hostel level), it's pretty nice. i don't think i'd travel with my girlfriend unless i was right out of college or something. the nice microcentro location and very nice hotel staff made it worthwhile.

“Okayish”

Out of 21 nights in Argentina this was the only place that we didn't check out on Tripadvisor before booking. We were therefore quite worried after reading some of the 1.0 reviews. However, our own experience was okay.

The negatives - quite noisy due to thin walls, doors and the lift machinery. 1980s decor that really needs updating.

The positives - one of the best breakfast selections that we've seen for this 2-3 star type of tourist hotel. Very helpful staff who allowed us to check in at 9 a.m. at no extra charge. Location - easy walk to Florida, Teatro Colon etc. and not far from Puerto Madero which was one of the reasons we picked it. Whilst the street isn't the smartest it is on a main bus route and is perfectly safe.

Overall I'd say it was fine if you just need something for one night at the start or end of your stay. If you want a base for BA then look elsewhere.
