“Great place to stay in this great city!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 February 2010

We originally stayed at the Plaza Francia four years ago on our first trip to Buenos Aires and were very pleased with the selection I made online. On our recent return there, we tried to get the same room, but it was now smoking so we were moved up one floor to an identical room (a jr. suite; room #100). It's good sized with a sitting area (couch, coffee table, two chairs, desk, chest with a mirror over it) and the bedroom (king bed and nightstands) with an accordion door that can be pulled to separate the two areas. Each room has a window that can be opened and a nice view. There's a closet in each room (the one in the sitting area has a safe in it). The bathroom has tub/shower and adequate counter space for toiletries, hair dryer and magnifying mirror.

An excellent, varied breakfast (scrambled eggs, danish, croissants, rolls, meat, cheese, yogurt, fresh fruit salad, bread for toast, jam) is included. The breakfast room is bright and comfortable. There is a bar in the lobby area, which has a number of couches, overstuffed chairs and tables, and we sometimes had a drink there when we returned from a day of sightseeing before going up to our room.

The staff is friendly and helpful. There is free computer use.

The location in Recoleta is excellent. There are many restaurants within walking distance, as well as many not to miss sights. We were very comfortable walking around the hotel at night.

If we are fortunate to return to Buenos Aires this is where we will again stay.

“Great location, in need of updating, reasonable overall value”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 October 2009

This traditional style hotel is a reasonable choice for a great location in Recoleta, assuming you are not paying too much. It is showing its age and could certainly use updating and cleaning (rugs, wallpaper, paint, wall hangings, etc). Buenos Aires was unusually warm a few days of our stay for this time of year, and the A/C was struggling to meet the challenge. We've read reviews below that breakfast was not good, but we thought it had a pretty good selection of warm and cold items -- something for everyone. It was fun to have the Feria Artesanal de Plaza Francia just across the street, and you might catch a glimpse of Robert Duval at the nearby Cafe La Biela (as we once did).

“This hotel is an excellent value with a wonderful location.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 March 2009

This hotel was recommended to us by Argentinians familiar with Buenos Aires hotels. We pass on the recommendation to everyone else with only one small qualification (which cannot be corrected): excellent location, helpful/friendly staff, comfortable room, great price, free wifi, but very tiny bathroom (i.e., virtually no counter space). It may not be the best place for a romantic honeymoon, but if you want a good spot to sleep and see the sights of Buenos Aires, we think it is great.

“Good location, helpful staff”

We were traveling on business and found the Hotel Plaza Francia to be an excellent bargain in a good location on the edge of the Recoleta district. The staff was very helpful in arranging tours and making reservations for us at various restaurants (since neither one of us spoke Spanish). The room was fine, not fancy. Nice view of Buenos Aires and the park. We loved that the window opened. It is a small, older hotel. We enjoyed our stay and would stay there again.

  • Liked — The location and friendly staff
  • Disliked — Room only average, but view good and window opened.

“Not what it is represented !”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 June 2008

The location is excellent. The staff is kind and helpful. The rooms are average, with worn out carpets that must be replaced. The bathrooms are very small. At times, a putrid smell came off from the bathroom, and the staff plugged the drain at the bathroom floor. Their prices keep going up (x 3 during the past 3 years), and I have chosen a different hotel in the same area for my next trip.

  • Liked — The location and the staff
  • Disliked — The bathroom and carpet issue, and the tremendous increase in price !

Dear guest,
Please be advised that we have immediately contacted tripadvisor website and we have taken into account customer surveys performed at our hotel facilities.
Last June 1st, you reported 2 types of claims, namely: 1-you referred to putrid smell in the bathroom
2-you stated taht prices were trebled during the last years.
As regards 2- above, please note that it is impossible for us to asses such a price-based difference as we cannot find the date of your previous visit as well as the type of room you had. different rates are usually applicable in connection with the following features: inner room, outer room, junior suite, executive suite, royal type suite, etc. we will be very glad if you let us know check in date and registration name concerning such a visit.
It must be highlighted that increases regarding national taxes, salaries and employment-based collective bargain agreements have straightforwardly influenced our current rates.
In order to permanently provide our guests with the best available attention service, we have incorporated series of services and changes intended to such a purpose.
Throughout these last 3 years we incorporated the following services:
* Free WIFI service in all our rooms, lobby, meeting rooms, breakfast.
* Underground parking area without any additional charge
* Digitally locked safety- deposit boxes in each room
* Newly advanced cold/heat air conditioners
* Safety system & automatic door-based elevators
Moreover, high occupation index has forced us to change our carpets in rooms and hallways every three months.
According to employment system, whenever a room is cleared, carpets are cleaned with good quality-proven effective units.
Similarly, bathrooms and health items are carefully you deserve.
Please let us know your address and we will invite you to stay the first 2 nights at our Hotel without any charge during your next visit to Buenos Aires.
We look forward to your soonest reply.
Best regards,
Sincerely,
M.Andrea Linares
